New Statement and Freeboots from E3 - This One Might Surprise You

This one's going to be a bit of a shocker for most people. First team E3 has released 2 more freeboots. This time Splinter Cell Trilogy HD and the 1.04 update for Batman Arkham City. This update has been on my personal wishlist ever since Harley Quinn's Revenge came out. I just checked and the new DLC does work.

And now for the real surprise. E3 claims they will release all patches free to the public and they will also give us the keys so we can patch our own games.

Great news from E3TEAM

We announced in advance last week that E3TEAM will release a great news for all ps3 user.

Here is our official claim:

1: E3TEAM will release all PS3 game free in public.
* It allow any 3.55CFW play all the new game without dongle.
* Just like the free eboot released by E3TEAM before.

2: E3TEAM will release the new key free in public.
* User can decrypt the new game by himself in few seconds .
* Please note all the release will be free with NO pay.

E3TEAM are building a full new system to release those free gift.
* We expect user can join this sytem to get what they want after 1-2 month.
* We will release more news about this system later.
* (PS: all is for downgradable console )

Q) I'm a TB user and had this game working with it. But, Now it's not working.
A) Being that you used this game with TB you replaced files to make it work for TB
S) You must first replace your files with the Original files.

A) You didn't install DLC
S) Install DLC and then ALL DLC Fix

make a backup of your eboot and param and try to use the one from the original BLUS version I posted at the bottom of the article. You would need to change your game ID to BLUS anyway to use the patch and all available DLC. AFAIK the rest of the game files are the same so it shouldn't hurt anything

The TB patched version could use all DLC except for Harley Quinn's Revenge

OK man thanxx,just one last question ...you didnt use any bd options in multiman cause the tb payload doesnt support it right ,just switch the original eboot and param ,install 1.04 update insert disc and play ?

ok, i don't know what's wrong, but all my tries failed - always black-screen when i run the Batman game, i thought i had enough experience already, because i can't remember the last time when something that is supposed to work is not due to my mistake, anyway, i'm just giving up trying.

ive been very fascinated by the new dex method but i would like to see it advance before i attempt looks very limited for Homebrew.

If we look at the scope of piracy, releasing the decryption keys will lead to a lot more piracy, so that is actually worse than what TB did/does. With TB you need a dongle, and this limits the number of users because not everyone wants to buy it for various of reasons. It also takes some time to get an update to play newer games, meaning that you can't play new games at release date. Releasing the decryption keys means that everyone (that are on firmware 3.55) can get all the games for free, and there will most likely be no wait either. In some cases, pirated versions will probably be available before retail date as well.

So in this way, releasing the decryption keys is actually worse than what TB does. And with TB, you can dump your own games as well if i'm not mistaken? In that case, it isnt necessarily just for piracy. I'm not really defending TB, i understand if you dont want to buy it, i'm just pointing out that what they did regarding enabling piracy is actually less worse than releasing the decryption keys.

why not release all the keys if they are that generous.... (theres always a catch or a reason)

keys to sign retail NPDRM for up to 4.20 (i know kakarots would love to have them)

we dont have to know how they obtained the keys (or Sony will patch again),just release it.

The decryption keys will most likely change in the next PS3 firmware update indeed, but if people can get the 4.20 keys, then they can easily get the future keys as well. I dont think Sony can patch this more than what they already managed to do. But it shall be interesting to see if E3 (or anyone else) will release the future keys as well.

sorry if you miss understood me i was mainly talking about if they make a dongle i would just choose them over tb i too agree releasing the keys like geohot did might hender things in the legitimate sence & sony will get sue happy again.

but i seriously doubt they will just release the keys anyway.im sure they will show you how to get the keys by using thier hardware tools which makes sence.

I see. I just ment that what E3 might do (if they release the keys) is actually worse than what TB does regarding piracy because giving out the keys will make piracy much more widespread, so i wondered if you wanted to support E3 then

Yeah, i wonder how they will do it. But if they release the method, it wont take long before the keys are known. The decryption key is the same on every PS3 console (unlike the rootkey, which is unique to every PS3 console). My guess is that they want to release the keys, hoping that people will want to buy their downgrade kits. It is a different business approach than what TB does.

@cassiusmj - If you have the BLUS copy, then no. I don't have the BLES copy but I would think that you would need the PARAM.SFO and Eboot.bin from the original files I posted or you could try to install the pkg, then move the contents that it installed in the /game/GAMEID folder to the right one.

@clide890 - maybe. sometimes you can use them if the files are the same. You'd have to change the game ID

I just had a thought - try doing BD-redirection from external to do the game install. I already had the game data installed which might be why I didn't run into any problems
