Netflix Working on Cobra Jailbroken PS3's

A member at PS3hax has stumbled on a new find for jailbroken PS3's. Using a rare 'PS2 netflix" iso disk users with a Backwards Compatible PS3 are now able to use Netflix on their Cobra jailbroken PS3's without PSN. So if you have a Cobra Dongle & a Netflix account (or access to one) hit the download below, burn it to CD and enjoy. Although it is reported that High Definition is not supported it is still a good find indeed.

“This is verified a legit release from Brazil. I called netflix today and talked on the phone. They said netflix for ps2 is available only in Brazil which is why no info is available, this means it isnt a hack, it wont steal info, ect.”

It’s also a padded ISO so don’t be surprised by the extraction size.

Also I am assuming this will only work on PS3′s with native PS2 support.

Although he states that the Netflix disc was released in Brazil, there have been reports of it working in North America. Please report back if it is working in your country.

This is nothing more than running ps2 software in a ps2-bc ps3, hardly newsworthy, especially the way they made it look like a ps3 hacking development with that title.

It may not be newsworthy to you but I think the point is for users to have another way to get netflix working on their ps3s..

I think this is cool. I saw this earlier today in the forums, and am glad it made it's way to the front page. I'm sure some people will find it handy.Too bad it's only for standard def, but with the nature of the solution (ps2 emulation), you can't expect any more.

thats awesome but would it be possible to make a homebrew app that can access netflix? there has to be a way where you just need the login info without going through psn

One could write a PS3 Internet browser that can use Silverlight, NetFlix's browser plug-in of choice.

At least this is a start.

things are slow around here. this is actually kinda cool but damn, the 3.60sdk was leaked like 2 weeks ago, what happened? same thing witht he new (xbox)360 glitch, nothings coming of it. but theres a difference, the 360 scene is still kickin pretty hard, all hdmis will be "jtagged" within a month, sony is just whuppin ass on us. i still enjoy a jbd ps3 thanks to all the hard work of some bright minds but my library of old games is gonna run out. aybe ill let the ps3 collect dust for another 6 months until something comes out and give the 360 some love... lol

Please remove this post. The person mentioning "bla******" is going against the rules of bla****** by mentioning the site. If you had information you didn't want posted elsewhere and someone posted it on BC they would remove it out of good faith so you should do the same.

Hopefully it eventually bring the features to the PS3 Slim console . Got mine from slickgate.com.

Agreed. Was his own fault for mentioning BC at PS3Hax but that part of the post should still be removed.

Maybe someone can use this to be able to play PSX and PS2 ISO backups (along with DVD-R's) on our FAT PS3's... ??

Here's the real question... I have 3 PS2s still. I've uploaded the iso to my shared drive and am using OPL to load netflix over the network. I get the Netflix loading screen to come up but that is all. What else do I need to do. I'm going to play with the settings for OPL but what else might I need to do?

On the PS2 end, its already been reported that it works ESR (ESR patched of course) and with modchips but I'm not too confident that the image can run from a hard disk unless it can access the internet from it. I do think that its an awesome alternative to have Netflix on the PS2/3.

Plus I do think that the source of the Netflix stream disc from PS3hax needs to be edited. It doesn't give a good impression to mention warez on front page scene news. Just my two cents

It does work from OPL, but since NetFlix has PS2 support only in Brazil, you got to have a valid login from Brazil. And of course, your PS2 must be connected in the internet. And I don't know if there is a kind of IP block or something like that.

It would be cool if some PS2 hacker have a look on this, maybe could be useful for something.

Works just fine for me, with my US Netflix account, loading it from the HDD with OPL 0.8. Everything is in English, too. Audio is a bit messed up unless you set Mode 3, then everything is perfect, I watched 3 hours of Shin Chan with it yesterday.

Interesting! I didn't know that NetFlix for PS2 might work outside of Brazil. Thanks for the info.
