JOshIsPoser, find a game that skips data install (when it is ran from app/home, the game knows that the data is already on the harddrive and does not need to install) and see if you can find some type of variable or architecture of the game that allows this. I have a feeling it has something to do with the eboot as some games check for installation before it fully loads. Whenever we modified eboots, we often had to delete the game data.

Yeah, everything I know is either by experimentation or seeing someone else post about. If we can get 4-5 games that do not require install and 4-5 that do require install, then we can reduce the amount of error we would make in attempting to find what triggers it whether it's in the eboot or some other configuration file!

mm 4.20.00 does not work with my true blue v2.7 when try to load game goes to xmb menu and game isnt loaded same game i have in playstation keeps poping up like i never loaded a game anyone know anything about this

i haven't been checking other forums, but i'm surprised there has been *nothing* posted. i don't think the main article included games.
anyways, i am gonna test a few i guess but i forgot how time consuming it can be if it doesn't work.

just tested dishonored discless, it boots but installs the data. you think maybe turning on bd-mirror could help? isn't that what devs kinda used?

If they're from psn yes, otherwise no unless you have a backwards compatible ps3 and a cobra dongle.

anyways... yeah! i just found a game. I wasn't sure if the game installed data but after booting it up, it did put out some game data (like 30 mb) and so i wondered why i even deleted such a small amount of data. After looking at a boxshot, it says it takes 3 gigs or so.
The game is Enslaved: Odyssey to the West.

Okay, so one out of three so far. Oh, and feel free to maybe test that cause maybe the game data built up as i played it, adding more and more as i got further.

fallout new vegas installed the data. oh, and bd-mirror happened to be on, too. so that kinda answers my previous concern about that option

grand theft auto 4: complete edition installs data and i'm not sure if i'd recommend it discless for this game anyways. it took a really, really long time to get to the point of installing data. i thought maybe it just didn't even work past selecting a game when discless.

@deank , have you recently made any adjustments with the FTP feature in mM?

Today when I updated to this latest version, I found that I was not able to connect to my PS3 thru FTP via multiMAN. Luckily, I still have black0X FTP server v1.2, and I am able to make the connection with that app.

I've double-checked all my configurations and they all seem to be normal. I've never adjusted any settings in mM when it comes to FTP--I just leave it as default.

Update:
Seems like mM was acting up, so I did the combo: L2+R2+L3+R3 (Reset to Default) and got my FTP back.

No, nothing is changed in mM about FTP. I use FTP to mM all the time to transfer test versions and stuff and it works fine just as usual.

@deank , oh, okay. Please read my update above. It turned out that mM was acting up again on my PS3.

Here were some odd symptoms:
1) the GAME title in the 2x4 display said OTHER--even though I did not mess with the Categories.
2) mM was only displaying a few PS3 games, instead of my whole library, even after several scans--and I had put the category back to OTHER.
3) FTP wasn't working or making a connection.

It was right after I had loaded a game, and then went back to mM to test another game, when I noticed the weirdness and I had also attempted to connect via FTP upload a new PKG to install.

Thank God for the default setting feature!

Oh, my personal settings that I adjust most are: (in case you'd like to make those default)

just tried heavy rain (it might have been move edition [they're all the same i think]) and it doesn't skip install data. i've noticed that installs seem a bit slower discless or maybe i just don't remember correctly.

this brings it to 1/6 games skip install data.


just tried infamous 2, it installed data discless. oh but it went pretty quickly, speed i remembered so i think it was just a fluke or a few games just don't like discless.

loaded up red dead and it said it had to reinstall the data due to corruption. i had no data, so i'm assuming that one doesn't work either.

i think unreal 3 was my last game that i thought had install data. it installed it...only the 300 or so mb, the full install is optional like always.

so, that brings it to 1/9 or 11% of my games skip the install data when it boots discless. if i happen to run across another game or two, i'll post it. idk if i'll post the lil ones though where it's like under 50 mb. i'm not sure if that stuff could ever be skipped or something.
