PSX-SCENE Forum Discussion for Sony PlayStation/PsOne/PS2/PS3/PSP/PS VITA
  • multiMAN/mmCM 04.02.01 UPDATE

    Need Speed? multiMAN/mmCM just got faster! It almost seems like yesterday when multiMAN/mmCM 04.02.00 full/base version was released, well here is a smaller (but powerful) update to one of the most favorite backup managers by the hardest working developer in the scene: deank and the fabulous Cobra Team.

    Those who hard-wire their PS3s in their networks are going to get a big bonus for rapids speeds in version 04.02.01 -- see details below!

    Code:
    04.02.01 -
    Here is a minor update for those who often use FTP and seek the best performance on the PS3 (mM Version 04.02.01):
    * Improved FTP performance:
    -> 95% of theoretical speed over 100Mbit connection (send/receive)
    -> 90% of theoretical speed over 1Gbit connection (receive) (or 50% of max when sending to PS3)
    * Improved /net_host performance
    * Improved performance when copying files in File Manager mode (from/to internal/USB HDD)
    * You can read about the FTP test results below:
    * Moving files in file manager works if destination file exists * Fixed caching thumbnails for retro ROMs from /net_host

    Personal tests show that this version is faster than other PS3 FTP Servers:
    Compared to previous versions: 6MB/s in 04.01.00, 8MB/s in 04.02.00 and 11.1MB/s in 04.02.01 - it doubles the 04.01 speed and it almost doubles blackbox and is ~4x/5x faster than openftp over 100MBit network these tests (as it says: cables used CAT6 and CAT5E) are for wired setups.

      Hey I dont want to sound like a jerk or anything but why do multiman gets over a million updates while I am still using my old OpenManager and it plays all of my True Blue games fine? I respect deank and everything as a developer but isn't the sould purpose of a backup manager is to play the backup games? Unless people care about how fancy thier backup manager looks idk.

      I use an older version of multiman for the filmanager but that is about it.
      For games that are 4+ Gig I use an NTFS HD and muitman sees it with the NTFS support and I just copy the game over there so no FTP is needed for me

      So basically my question is why keep on updating a backup manager if that doesnt change any of the comparability of the games. Erm to be blunt is it for the fancy themes or something I used multiman a while back and I really didnt like it

      Openmanager is so simple to use so also is multiman is really meant for people with broken Blu Ray drives with the BDEMU?

      Idk I still play my backups the old school way and they all work fine with openmanger.

      @Goku1922, that's a fair question.. let's see if I can provide at least some highlights:

      Well if you read the logs.. there are some folks that are capitalizing in using their game backups on NTFS HDDs (no more having to deal with 4GB+ splits and etc) by using network streams of their games and other media from their PC's. And speeds like FTP to load games the old fashion way.. is also a plus.

      Don't get me wrong, but you ought to just read the changelogs each time a new release comes out. Might give you a hint why these updates are important to most of us. Especially also those that are playing the latest games 3.56+ with TrueBlue Dongle and those having fun with other medias when using Cobra. But those without dongles, can appreciate their speeds from FTP and also lots of enhancements and optimized tweaks.

      All I am saying is that updates should always be welcomed and not frowned upon.

      Oh wow I must of been in a dark for a long time I didnt know that now you can play NTFS HDD on a backup manager. I guess these new updates are something to look into I honestly never read the change logs thanks.

      past updates:

      integrated ROM support
      integrated ShowTime support
      integrated NTFS support for files over 4 gigs
      plays games with split files
      massive speed improvements
      support for dual payloads
      added background video support (wave.divx)
      built in file manager and ftp
      integrated web browser
      updates download directly

      and on and on and on
      So to answer your question it's not for the "fancy themes"

      @Goku1992 - NTFS support is for transferring files. You can't boot games from NTFS drive but you can read the entire contents and get the files you need for easy transfer to internal

      Guys i have problem with my Samsung S2 Portable 1TB EXTernal HDD. Many times when i press start+/\ and i go to my EXT HDD and pres O to copy some file its copy fiew seconds and stop and then i can`t see any folders and files when i press on the EXT HDD ICON. Its EMPTY.... Wha`t could be wrong ?

      What I am referring is another way. Like back in the day with PS2 when using OPL where we store our game ISOs in our PC's NTFS HDDs and we would connect our PS2 to our network via Ethernet cable and then stream the game without ever putting the disc in the tray or having to connect a FAT32 HDD in it's USB port. We can do this now, read the changelogs, and this is why mutliMAN needs updates so it can provide this support for it.

      Please guys, don't make me think I am the only nerd that reads the changelogs

      Hi, sorry for silly question but I still have MultiMAN 2.x and have not follow this development for months. I notice that Cobra is mention with the new 4.x version. Is this version special for Cobra dongle? I have plain Kmeaw 3.55 CFW only, can I use this new version? Many thanks for the info.

      multiMAN 04.00.00+ will support Kmeaw--so go ahead and install first a base or full version of 04.02.00 and then this update. I provide the link of the base/full in the first paragraph of the article (the text is underlined--meaning it's a link).

      Only Cobra features will work for Cobra users, but the rest of the features will be a plus for kmeaw.

      Using Filezilla, Im getting errors after about 5 minutes of transfering:

      "Could not write to transfer socket: ECONNRESET - Connection reset by peer"

      and I cant reconnect to the PS3. Have to exit out of Filezilla and Multiman and reconect.
      Version 4.02.00 works fine. No errors. Any ideas?

      temp fix revert back to 4.02.00. might be a bug. Are you sure you have enough free space for transfer?

      I like the results of FTP, i agree with the large files did anyone test FTP any FTP for small files in case of demon's Souls transfer or game like that having large number of small files.

      What is the max number of simultaneous transfers that you allow in filezilla and also - what kind of connection do you use (wired or wireless)??
