  • [Update] multiMAN 04.19.00 -- Adds PS1 ISO/BIN Support

Update: v04.19.01 released. Adds support to Multi-Disk games. Also updated multiMAN Showtime builds released.

Deank has updated multiMAN to version 04.19.00. In this update following the work of Estwald from IrisManager, Deank has added PS1 ISO support to multiMAN (single-disc) without a Cobra Dongle. ISO/BIN backups are said to have less compatibility then the CD-R backups method that has been featured in multiMAN for some time. PS1(PSX) games will appear in the RETRO column of multiMAN and should be placed in the (/PSXISO /PSXGAMES folders). Memory Cards are stored in the same folder as games. Covers (png and jpgs) are supported. For more informational checkout the complete change log below for v04.19.00/04.19.01.

    Change Log 04.19.01

multiMAN 04.19.00/01 is now available online for CEX/DEX/STEALTH:

    * Added initial support for single-disc PS1 ISO/BIN backups (/PSXISO /PSXGAMES folders)
    * PS1 ISO/BIN backups will show in the RETRO column
    * PS1 ISO/BIN backups compatibility is much lower than burned PS1 CD backups

    * Added support for multi-disc PS1 backups (in 04.19.01)
    * Updated Showtime for mM and standalone to 04.01.451

    * Credits for the PS1 EMU patches go solely to Estwald/Hermes

    ======================

Memory cards are stored per game in the same folder as the game. Covers can be named as the iso/bin with .jpg (3264x3264 max) or .png (416x414 max) extension (or as COVER.JPG (3264x3264 max) when using PSXGAMES folder with game-name subfolder).

Don't forget that pressing [SQUARE] in the RETRO column groups content (emulator ROMS, PS1/PS2/PSP).

The problem with ISO and BIN files is that crucial information is missing. The best way is to use CUE+BIN (although CUE is currently not supported by the Iris/patched-emu method).

@deank, while updating my tutorial on running Xploder v4, I discovered something that might confuse others.

Let me see if I can break it down:

      1. Xploder's ISO we name it to DISC1.BIN
      2. So then we have to name the PSX Games ISO's to DISC2.BIN and etc. -- this way, when we do the swapping of game to continue the process they are all in a alpha-numeric order.
        1. Question: Do we need to follow this same pattern for multiMan?

      3. When we Paste as a Link DISC1.BIN to another PSX Game folder, multiMAN's Retro shows a game cover for the Link as well as the other ISOs in that same game folder.
        1. The issue here is that we need to locate DISC1.BIN in order to execute the LINK, where with IrisManager it only shows one game cover for all the extra BIN files within the same game folder--including the LINK.
          1. Question: Is there way you can make this also happen for multiMAN in the future?

Another issue is the naming of the games in multiMAN vs. IrisManager:

IrisManager grabs the name of the game according to what we elect to name the folder of the PSX-Game. This means that the ISO can be named to anything, and it won't matter, because it doesn't read the title of the files. This is perhaps why it only fetches one game cover for all ISOs inside a PSX Game folder?

multiMAN grabs the name of the ISO and each other ISO in the same game folder--if the game has more than one ISO--this explains the duplicates in Retro. The problem here is that Xploder's ISO's Name is DISC1.BIN and I am not sure if this will break up the sequence if we choose to rename the other game ISOs to a different name so that multiMAN displays it as the actual name of the game and not DISC2.BIN and etc.

But, I do have one PSX Game that the folder and ISO are named not exactly as to what multiMAN chose the title to be. It actually got the title right and I don't know how that happened? Could the name of the game be embedded inside the ISO?

I hope I didn't lose you. Let me now I if I did, so I can try to explain it another way. But I am afraid that the best way for you to grasp what I am trying to explain is that you tried it with a PSX Game ISO and Xploder v4 and Pasting a LINK using IrisManager than comparing this with multiMAN.

One more thing, I really like that your method doesn't require patching any emu files. I think this makes it easier for newbies.

No .mdf's work... converted a couple of them to .iso using CDRWIN and that dont work either.
Guess it's best to stick with the CDRs for now.
.mdf works fine in Iris manager, I'm going to stick with it for that reason.

for quite some time now multiMAN has grabbed the name from inside the ISO (as of Cobra support), Check settings I know there was a way to choose where mM gets the name

Detect Game Title in ISO Images? I have that enabled. But not all show the title as two that I have that did get it right. I wonder if deank could let us create like a small txt file inside each folder and have it fetch the details from that?

Is this a bug? - When I left 4x2 Retro in PSX category and went to the settings to check out that feature above. I returned and all the PSX games in the PSX category are not showing their game covers. Just a black disc with PS in the bottom right-hand corner. They were all showing up fine before. Don't know what happened there? I wonder if they don't get cached correctly since all of them are named the same? COVER.JPG It can't cache the same named cover, right?

My current mM version is 4.18.04
Do I need to install the 4.19.00 base before updating to 4.19.01?
Where is the 4.19.00 base? I only see 4.19.00 upd

i'm having an issue (who me? no way :P)

anyways, i put a folder inside psxgames and it didn't show up when i browsed my external drive. so, i moved it to roms and then it did show up when i browsed to it.

inside the folder it said no psx/ps2/psp roms. so, i went into mmOS, browsed to the folder and saw bin/cue with only the cue being selectable. when i selected the cue file, it said only cobra supports this.

it's gotta be me cause others are doing fine but idk what to really change except maybe convert the bin/cue to iso.

if anyone can provide help, that'll be greatly appreciated but i'm gonna be busy now for quite a bit with the x games but i'll check every commercial break i can.

i'm gonna try an iso version of a game and see if that makes it work as one last shot before i really don't know what to do.

Hey Dean, when you get the chance could you link the new retroarch version to multiman so it boots roms direct? Thanks man.

That is not fast and that is the best speeds you can get.

I don't mind if you provide mirrors but you are misleading everyone claiming they are "fast" .

I suspect this is some type of rewards program for downloads ?

I asked you to not use code boxes for links which you didn't do this time, Thanks

please stop claiming these are fast.

      In comparison:
      PSX-Scene links get from 300-500 kb/s
      Brewology.links get from 300-500 kb/s
sendspace various but right now it got 95kb/s

      or update in multiman?

if i ever get slow speeds, i restart and it's usually fast again. takes seconds and no transferring needed.

^ of course.. That's always #1...But I know there are some people who just don't hook their ps3 to the Internet for whatever reason.

So, thanks deank great work, I am curious about this emulator, is this the same from the dev flas of the ps3 or is another one.

If it is another one programed from scratch maybe can add in the future enhaced functions like epsxe, or double resolution like the old missing ps2 emulator from ffgriever?

from what i've heard, a psx emu would be hard. someone released one but they said a dynarec is needed for anything about like 20% speeds. that's why we don't have an n64 emu. i mean, i'd like to see a slow one at least but we got none atm.

Deank Hi, sorry for the inconvenience, I love multiMAN, but my bd drive is broken, so I use cfw rebug 4.21 at full dex and emulate the drive bd. But I wonder if you would make the hermes payload of cex versions of multiMAN compatible in dex. In dex so the hermes does not work, the iris manager can run games at 4gb + external hd with the same payload hermes mode dex, I wonder if that possibility exists of making the same mode multiMAN dex.

      Thank you!

There is one from Squarepusher and the other RA devs (not in official 0.9.8 build but it's in 0.9.8 beta 3 compile by pete_uk) its at about 50% speed (25-32 fps), game compatibility is great. its seems okay when wasted but dynarec is the issue
