Wishlist:

In 4x2 display, can you make the L2/R2 less sensitive? I seem to jump pages when I want to browse my games. I have to then go back, because it jumped one page or two.

Or does the Key Repeat Speed adjustment fixes this? It was on Fast, and I put it on Normal, and it seems less sensitive, but not sure if it is meant for that?

Bad news. I got the black screen again.

I was trying to copy some files from an external HDD to my USB thumb drive via mmOS. It froze--never got started. So I had to reboot the PS3.

When I opened mM, I got the black screen, but no more HDD display at the bottom.

Only way to exit is through FTP or on/off button on PS3.

I wish I knew a quick way to fix this issue?

I tried reinstalling mM 04.18.01 but that didn't work. I guess I have to install base first then proceed from then on.

It was working fine with 04.18.00

Update:

I'm trying to install 04.17.00 base, but it doesn't allow me to, says a message about not letting me. This is the last base that sort of fixes my issue when this happens.

Update 2:

I installed 04.18.00 base, and though it changed the theme to default. I am only hearing music and the blue background image and no other icons. I can't change the display (since I have that locked).

04.18.00 doesn't work for me either.. see above UPDATE 2.

I wish I knew which file gets corrupted in mM so I can replace it.

I think installing 04.18.00 base doesn't replace a file that gets corrupted. I plan to extract 04.17.00 base and then just replace all the sys files via FTP. I think that ought to work.

I was able to get things back. Yes, I did replace all the files with the 04.17.00 base, but that didn't help.

So I reinstalled 04.18.00 and then 04.18.01.

I then deleted all the files inside the "data" folder--except desktop folder and the file SHOWTIME.VER.

That got me out of the locked 4x2 display and rescan all my HDDs for media as well as reset my mM settings, automatically during boot up.

I wish I knew which of all those files gets corrupted? Once I am able to learn which one it is, perhaps deank can see if he can fix it? Because this shouldn't happen to a cool guy like me.

I don't know what is wrong at your end and I can't fix something that I don't experience as a bug.

It could be related to your external usb/hdd drives or some folder which is scanned and contains invalid files (too long names or too many subfolders or something similar). You may have a bad/corrupted USB drive (I read that you had issues with one of the thumb drives and now you were trying to copy something from external USB HDD to external USB THUMB drive). You can always try to start mM while holding L2+R2+L3+R3 - it will reset mM and clear the temp/data files.

There is no need to install/reinstall older or newer versions of mM because your issue is elsewhere.

If it happens again, try to start mM without any USB drives connected. If that fails - try to delete the XMBS.00* files from the data folder one by one and find which one causes the lock. These are the cached files for the columns: picture (003), music (004), video (005) and retro (008). For example if you delete XMBS.004 and everything is ok it will mean the the problem is with the MUSIC library, which means something in /dev_usb***/MUSIC or /dev_hdd0/music; XMBS.003 -> /dev_usb***/PICTURE or /dev_hdd0/photo; XMBS.005 -> /dev_usb***/VIDEO or /dev_hdd0/video and XMBS.008 -> /dev_usb***/ROMS.

I'll explain the function of all files in the data folder. Basically the only changes happen there and it is always safe to delete it, because all files/folders will be recreated.

After a clean BASE/FULL installation the data folder contains only a "desktop" subfolder with "What's New.txt" and SHOWTIME.VER (to identify the version of the included SHOWTIME.SELF from USRDIR/sys). The data/desktop folder later may contain the shortcuts of folders/games you create in mmOS (name.mmlink)

After mM is started the data folder is populated with various files. It is safe to delete all of them.


FEED.BIN - (TXT) Cached information for the WEB column
MMOS.BIN - (TXT) Path per line for each window opened in mmOS
LLIST.BIN - (BIN) Cached game list (for the GAME column)
LLIST.TXT - (TXT) List of your games in text format (names, IDs, paths)
LSTAT.BIN - (BIN) mM status (connected devices, mouse X/Y positions, mp3/sound volume, last used XMB column and selected entry, XMB groups)
DISCLM.BIN - (TXT) User agreement (from the 3 agreement screens). If missing you'll be prompted with the disclaimer pages again.

options.bin - (TXT) multiMAN Settings. This file contains all the user configurable settings.

RELOADED.BIN - (BIN) If present - mM skips some initial processing (like when returning from showtime or retroarch)
SHOWTIME.VER - (TXT) The version of SHOWTIME.SELF
SLOTS.BIN - (BIN) Data for the 48 icon slots used in mmOS
STATE.BIN - (TXT) mM status (last used display mode, font setting and game selection)
XMBS.003 - (BIN) Cached data for the entries in the PHOTO column
XMBS.004 - (BIN) Cached data for the entries in the MUSIC column
XMBS.005 - (BIN) Cached data for the entries in the VIDEO column
XMBS.008 - (BIN) Cached data for the entries in the RETRO column

* You can view all files marked with (TXT) in a regular text editor (like NOTEPAD).
* You can delete any of these files at any time. mM will recreate them if necessary.
* Some files may not be present, depending on the configuration (no internet connection, never used mmOS, etc)
* You can 'reset' most of these files by starting mM with L2+R2+L3+R3 (reset mode).
* There are no other files to look for/change in the other folders of mM

FYI: I've had a bug with 4.18.00 a few times and again tonight with 4.18.01. A few times when loading a rom via multiman (using the latest retroarch) the PS3 rebooted to the XMB instead of loading the rom. When I went back to mm all the settings (theme/clock/etc) were set back to default. Same thing also happened to me once while changing the background video from video 1 to video 2. It asked me to restart mm and when it restarted the settings were back to default. Most of the time everything works fine, just happens randomly.

Strange issue, i know you said the latest version of RetroArch. (many people say latest and its not) just want to confirm what version you have.
