multiMAN 04.16.03 Released -- Speed Improvments

Another "X" on the calendar and another update for multiMAN. Deank developer behind multiMAN has been hard at work in the recent weeks giving us what seems to be non-stop quality updates. In this version (04.16.03) there was a focus on speed. Spawning improvements in overall speed of all functions / GUI, Loading folders in mmOS, scans prior to copying a game/folder, increased the number of entries in game mode by 50& as well many more speed improvements and changes you can see in the full changelog below.

multiMAN's 04.16.03 Changelog:

Here is the minor 04.16.03 update which will change your mM experience forever:

* Improved overall speed of all functions and GUI
* Data Test/Verify functions now take fraction of the time compared to previous versions
* Improved 'Verifying data' of USB games by a factor of 50
* Improved scan before copying a game/folder
* Improved loading folders in mmOS
* Improved just a bit deleting games/folders
* Greatly improved loading content when browsing PS3 HDD/USB drives in game modes
* Loading Retro ROM/Video/Photo and ISO folders while browsing PS3 HDD/USB is now about 15 times faster
* Added "Friendly" name option in "Settings"/"Network Servers" for /net_host parties
* Fixed over-scrolling when browsing through large number of entries
* Increased max number of entries in game modes by 50% to 3072 (from 2048)

* The first time you load this version it will take 2-3 seconds longer, but next mM starts will show the GUI in a split second.

The update for CEX/DEX/STEALTH is now available online.

As always, we are really gifted to have you on our side Deank. Thanks again for all that you've given us.
Just a small note. The lastGame4 has problem loading some games eg., God of War collection. It loads perfect when loaded from inside mM. Please take a look at it when you find time.

You have LEFT and RIGHT sticks on your pad and can move the pointer and the windows. You don't need a mouse.

Speed is thru the roof. Also this is working fine for me on both a 4.21 Rebug unit and a 3.55TB unit. I actually turned off USB verify because for games with lots of little files it took forever before, much better now. FTP speed is great. I use 4 threads and often get total throughput of more than 20MB/sec. DeanK you are really a great guy and MM and ST are the premier apps for PS3 CFW users. Thanky you for all you do and Merry Xmas!!!

One idea for a 2013 addition.....how about a param.sfo editor kind of like the one in PS3 tools on the PC. This way we could check the Remote play flags in the pararm.sfo files so us Vita users wouldn't have to modify them on the PC side?

The old code is completely removed from mM. It also required a lot more memory than the current mmOS. Read the 'navigation.txt' file and you will see that it is really easy to use mmOS. You can use the buttons to change windows, refresh, scroll, etc. I can't bring back the old interface, sorry.

Not sure if this is a bug. I just updated to this version.

In mM settings I have Title Name Appearance (Title and path ) setting enabled. On the 4x2 display, when I switch pages (L2 or R2), I notice that the first game title per page will sometimes not show the path, only the title. I have to reselect this again, in order for it to show the path. Sometimes this doesn't occur, but every once in while it does.

When mM detects that you're switching pages/games too fast it doesn't display the path and only the title. You can see how it works when you hold LEFT or RIGHT for fast scrolling.

i ditched the cobra.

when i am playing psone backups off cd-r now, and it shows different memory cards than what i have set on xmb...
also, if i start multiman with only 1 memcard for psone mounted thru xmb.. then i go into the psone disc through multiman and when i hit ps button it shows that memcard 2 is mounted even though it is not in the ps3 xmb settings.

attempting to change virtual memcard during psone backup play via the ps button menu causes the system to crash, and starting it up again makes me wait for it to check files.

i tried deleting all memcards, starting in recovery mode, rebuilding database, and the other option there i cant remember.

is this happening to anyone else?

rogero 4.30 2.03 and this multiman 04.16.03

went from nfw3 where this all worked fine during iso with cobra.

noticed this problem with memcards on rebug 4.21 with 4.30 spoof off toolbox (cant remember versions of those, think theres only one tho) as well,

Big thanks for the updates, the speed really is lightning fast now. Awesome.

About filemanager, I admit too that the current style is somewhat complicated to use and I kinda like two-way listers but after some time you will get hang of it. As a sidenote the filemanager is almost impossible to use for beginners who don't have so much experience in computers. It scares the living shit out of them

New update details:

multiMAN 04.16.04 is available online now:

* Improved speed when copying games/files from/to USB HDDs
* Improved speed when copying games from PS3 Game Discs
* Improved speed when copying/browsing folders via FTP (LIST/MLSD)
* Added support for up to 99 pkg files in the [* Install Package Files] queue
* [* Install Package Files] function will scan /dev_hdd0/PKGTMP and will MOVE the queued pkg files from this folder (saving HDD space by not copying to temp location)
* mmOS will now honor the "Verify USB Games" setting when starting games from icons/shortcuts/game-folder
* Scanning for active USB storage devices is now performed in the background and will speed up loading games on 4.**CFW

* Verifying games in now performed in the background (when possible) to avoid delays when loading games

The last one means that mM will scan your USB game folders in the background. It if manages to scan a game at least once you'll never be bothered with 'Verifying data...' again Along with the background scanning of usb devices it is now "Press [X] and game is loaded..."
