PSX-SCENE Forum Discussion for Sony PlayStation/PsOne/PS2/PS3/PSP/PS VITA
  • multiMAN 04.12.00 Released

Deank has updated multiMAN to version 04.12.00. Adding full support for Rogero 4.30 CFW V2. This version of multiMAN must be installed before updating to Rogero 4.30 CFW v2. Deank has added Direct Disc Access, PS1 Backup support, and fixed AVCHD/Blu-ray copying from Video Column. Check below for additional info from the changelog below:

    ChangeLog:
    V. 04.12.00

    • Added full support for Rogero 4.30CFW Version 2.00
      - LV1 peek/poke support
      - PS1 disc backups support
      - Direct Disc Access support
    • Added new function in "Home" column - "* Install Package Files"
    • Added new option in "Settings" - "Install Package Files Method"
      - User can pick from either "Standard" or "PSN Style (bubble)" modes
      - Bubble mode shows installable packages as PSN downloaded content in Game column (or under Rebug's Package Manager/PSN Content)
      - To select a package file (*.pkg):
-- Use [* Install Package Files] option in Home column or
-- double click on a pkg file in mmOS/File Manager (when "bubble" method is used the PS3 will reboot)
    • Fixed copying of AVCHD/Blu-ray movie backups from Video column

NOTE: You will need this version installed BEFORE upgrading to Rogero 4.30 v2 as the firmware DOES NOT have a "* Install Package Files" XMB entry like the other CFWs
    .

    UPDATE

If you forgot to install latest mM on Rogero 4.30CFW v2.00 you can still install it by downloading this ZIP file. Put it on a USB stick and double-click/install it from mmOS and then REBOOT your PS3 and install latest mM from the bubble/PSN icon.

You need to burn a disc. For Cue/bin images you need to use Cobra Manager dongle.

So with this new version, I put one of my own PS1 discs in to make a backup, and MultiMAN did not give me the option to copy it. Is there something I'm missing? Is there a full tutorial on PS1 games with MultiMAN somewhere? Information for it specifically is surprisingly hard to find for me.

PSX on PS3 is horrible. Odd colors, odd feeling, odd resolution, bad quality (not sharp/crisp), etc, etc.

I compared both, PSX with RGB (using XRGB-3) and PS3, all on 1080p monitor with HDMI. PSX wins! Period!

Of course, the advantage is you can play somes PSX titles now that if you don't have a real PSX/PS1 anymore, but keep in mind it wouldn't be compatible with all titles and it will never run like used to be (see the issues I related above).

The XRGB-3 is a £200+ scaler, of course it's going to look better; but I disagree that the PS3 is horrible. With the upscaling and smoothing settings turned off it looks on par if not better than my PS1 does on my 50" Plasma (both being upscaled by my Onkyo AVR).

As far as the colours, that's probably because the PS1/PS2 emulators don't take any notice of the RGB Full Range (HDMI) option in Display Settings, hence it's going to look a bit poor if you're viewing it on a screen that only supports 0-255. My LCD monitor allows me to switch the HDMI input to 16-235, you might want to see if yours has a similar option.
