It appears we may not be stuck on 3.55 CFW much longer. Deank has provided us with some conformation that this new CFW labeled Red Power's 4.21 is indeed real. multiMAN has been updated to version 04.06.00 so this CFW is compatible when it is released to the public, There also was speculation that this CFW may need a reDRM dongle in order to use the CFW. That was false information as deank also confirms this CFW will not need a dongle of any sort. multiMAN also just turned 2 years old. What a 2 years it has been for this app., was great at the start and now is spectacular. Soon as you don't think it can get any better it always does. So thank you deank for all the amazing updates and work you have put into this amazing application the past two years..Below you will find out more information about Red Power 4.21 CFW through some very rough google translations. Please everyone be patient while this new CFW makes it way to the public. Be cautious of any potential fakes. Keep in mind this is not deank's CFW so this story could take some turns before it is released to the public

I just woke up and read some posts about some chinese sh*tty dongle for 4.21... Just to make it clear - the mM update has nothing to do with it and doesn't need a dongle if used with 4.21cfw. It is a pure speculation I guess, because there are a lot of people around who won't allow another dongle to surface anyway. I don't believe that their dongle (which I doubt it exists at all) will see the light of any day!

Hopefully they use 4.21DEX as a base firmware so we have the option of downgrading, it'd be weird if it can only be installed on 3.55 with no downgrade option since we'd only be able to install it once and what if something goes wrong.

if it can only be installed on 3.55, it'll be pretty much moot since we have dex. rebug on the other, will be awesome cause they do their work and figure stuff out. they won't release something that'll most likely keep you stuck without telling you. plus, they won't succumb to using dongles just for profit

im utterly confused every 04.06.00 pkg i install my multiman still says its on 04.05.00 and tells me theres an update available but i get an error when i try to update ive just changed my broadband is it possible my new router is stopping the update ive just installed 03.00.00 and i still get an error when i try to update does anyone know how i can fix this or can someone make a 04.06.00 full for me for now with the 04.06 multiman on your hdd

You get the error because you're using a dongle and the version for it is still 4.05.00.

If that is true (which I seriously doubt about the members atleast) Does it make them wrong to charge? I wont do another what's right/wrong topic here but this is my 2 cents. If people want to wait on NODRM to spoon-feed them games then let them. OR if they want to pay for a dongle that let them play newer games then let them. At the end of the day it's all about what is convenient to the end user. My opinion about this 4.21 CFW is just a "smokes and mirrors mind trick" It's a firmware not needed people want CFW either downgrade or buy used the end. The whole project/development of this CFW is a waste of time because of there is nothing wrong with 3.55 firmware to play games on. It's not like the CFW will have PSN acess anyway... just stay on 3.55 (sorry if I offended any dev)

yes, it does make them wrong to charge. free and open information should stay free and open source. it is not a service but an unneeded product to just put a price tag on something. what's different from waiting on n0drm and when people waited on tb except n0drm's speed and patched updates besides price? well, i guess also besides n0drm is doing something right You don't want a right/wrong topic but the only way to respond without simply agreeing or disagreeing is to talk about what is right or wrong.

It's not about right or wrong, it's about the scene turning into a huge milking factory.

There is absolutely no reason to charge.
There is no hardware, nothing, it's just DRM to make sure you paid.

This mentality is no different than developers overpricing their games.

But you do get the packaging and warranty with it, which you don't get with a pirated version.

Back in the days I'd pay for mod chips, but I'd get a lot of features and a real piece of hardware worth the price. Now you pay for the sake of paying, some freaking DRM on a stupid dongle to make sure you cashed in, WTF ? Seriously ?

And idiots are ready to accept this and just pay ?
Wake up.

I know that this era is all about overconsumption and peoples buying things for the sake of spending money, but this defies logic and the purpose of a scene in the first place.

This place should be for sharing, not charging stuff just to get rich by exploiting scene users.

This is the only scene where devs charge peoples for the sake of charging. No DRM on any dongle anywhere else.

Sharks are now in charge of this scene.

I may just end up buying a RGH 360 so I can play God of War: Ascension, Last of Us, Beyond: Two Souls, Yakuza 5, Unfinished Swan, Rain, and The Last Guardian.

ability until the age of 21. Hang in there Kid.......there's allot of life ahead of you,

The xbox scene is jumping for joy, hearing that you're about to jump over to their

awesome to hear there's still devs in the fw scene.
I'm excited to hear more news in the near future. besides what can be done for any the devs' personal use i think it's great they're willing to share whether or not they decide to allow end-users to partake for free, or at a premium I'm honestly very happy with my PS3 right now having the abililty to run backups limited to a certain fw. I mean in all honesty , to play the latest and greatest you can always have a rental account, and your local retailer if you want to play them. myself personally i like the novelty of having the freedom to preserve certain functions of the console while being able to exploit others(e.g. hdd backups, emulators) I mostly have a Sony console because they have exclusive IPs, coupled with exclusive technology it's makes for a farily simple entertainment purchase decision, just gaming alone.
AS far the makers of this software available to me on my PS3 i think it's an end user choice you dont have to pay for any of it. so why complain about what's not FREE?

If this list reveals to be true (which we don't know yet), then this scene has been a joke since the beginning.

Those devs that proclaimed freedom of speech and sharing are now turning into a shark robbing their own community.

I think you're missing the point here, you probably just wanna play new games and don't care to pay for another DRM dongle.

Daddy will probably pay it for you.

I hope this scene hasn't settled a new standard for the future, otherwise we're f*cked.

If a 4.21 CFW is on the horizon then that's Awesome news!!! I picked up one of the new slim PS3's, the new new slim ones, and it actually has 4.21 on it, not 4.25 surprisingly...

if this ever does see the light of day, then you will need a 3.55 or lower PS3 as they have already stated those are the only machines that will be able to

so, it's a few days past sept 30. i'm gonna guess they promised something that couldn't be down (downgrade with their dongle) or it wasn't secure enough. hopefully the "other" 4.21 cfw comes out before the dongle one does.
