More System Information - Hidden PS3/PSP Menu

UPDATE: Apparently, this also works for the PSP, thanks to Ryu from DaskHacks for letting us know it shows the PSP's version.txt.

Thanks to a "Twitter Pest", new information about a hidden menu, within the PS3, has been brought out to the public. I am not sure how useful this could be, but thought I would share it with everyone anyways, as it is a good way to point out the PS3 Dev Wiki, and all the hard work that goes into that site. It is a great tool when wanting to learn more about the PS3. Apparently, thanks go to developer deroad for the information found at the source, as well as Sandungas for helping him out. So stop by the PS3 Dev Wiki, and bookmark it today!

How to get this

Go to Settings > System > System Information
Press simultaneously R1 + L1 + DPad Left + Square for a few seconds
Release those buttons then immediately press the start button (and keep it held)
While holding the start button, click DPad_Left once to have the menu stay up on it's own

Wow, super helpful [/sarcasm]
Let us know when you guys truly find something useful. This does not do anything special besides just show a hidden screen that no one knew about before. If anything this shows how little we truly know about the PS3 and that our 'great' hackers have to come by this crap by chance instead of reverse engineering the system.
Rather lame if you ask.

ummmm,
This,is kin to qa flag,does NOTHING but shows you allot,
it is absolute cool but useless....However,
QA flag and things of this nature may help future nubs to identify what console version they have,and therefore,what hacks are appropriate to there console version,so good on ya.

Dude, if you read the comments in the Vita's hidden menu post you will see we brang up this menu on the PS3 the same day! We already brang up this menu a long time a go so why suddenly make it frontpage now? Seriously go read the comments in the Vita post... What a waste.

You really think they come to this by "chance"?? Ok, this obviously is no reverse engineering or anything, but it is also not "chance"... Just count the number of presses, then count the number of buttons, then do the math for all the possible combinations, and you'll find it's several orders of magnitude higher than the probability of winning the lottery... It's not reverse engineering, it's not chance, this is inside info, and while there are great hackers out there, this is not one such feat...

krytonic: exactly, exact same keypresses for the vita, people saw that post say hey whos to say this doesnt work on other sony hardware, they tested, it worked, a week later recycled news on a slow day
