mmCM aka multiMAN is around again making a splash in the PS3 scene. Bringing mmCM to version 04.05.00. Deank has compiled an unofficial bulid of Retro Arch (0.9.7 RC-2) . This brings full Support for all the RetroArch's libretro cores in mmCM, aka multiMAN. .ZIP support has been added to mmOS, now you can extract ZIP files in mmOS. You can also now launch Retro ROMs in ZIP format from local or network location via mmCM. This build of Retro Arch also adds some fixes/additions by Sqaurepusher aka TwinAphex adding Save/Load support to Mednafen_PCE_Fast & Mednafen_Wswan libretro cores. Check below for all the changes to mmCM 04.05.00 & Retro Arch 0.9.7 RC2.

mmCM aka multiMAN (04.05.00)

Added support for ZIP files (4GB ZIP filesize limit)

Added support for extracting ZIP files in mmOS (unzip supports subfolders, too); User can enter the target folder name to extract the zip in.
--- Unzip in the same folder: ([O]->Unzip Here)
--- Unzip in a different folder: ([O]->Copy -> (go to a different folder) -> [O]->Unzip Here)
--- Double-click a .zip file - extracts archive to TEMP location and opens target folder
------ TIP: To extract into current folder enter single dot . for folder name;

Added support for installable ZIP packages when filename is in special format (double click on such special zip in mmOS):
--- PS3~dev_hdd0~GAMES~BLES12345~dlc.zip will prompt the user to install the contents in /dev_hdd0/GAMES/BLES12345/dlc folder
--- PS3~dev_blind~test.zip -> will make mM enable WRITE access to dev_flash and install the contents of the .zip in /dev_blind/test (/dev_flash/test) folder (use with caution)
------ TIP#1: Special ZIP naming convention: prefix is "PS3", "/" is replaced by "~"
------ TIP#2: This approach can be used to restore backups of /dev_hdd0/home or install patch-fixes or other data

Added support for RetroArch 0.9.7 new cores - launching retro ROMs from "Retro" column
Added support for launching retro ROMs in ZIP format from local or network locations (/dev_hdd0, /dev_usb***, /net_host*)
Added support for new emulator cores:
--- Mednafen's PCE for PS3 (pce)
--- Mednafen's WonderSwan Color for PS3 (wsw)
--- PRBOOM for PS3 (prb) (plays Doom, Doom II, Final Doom and other Doom IWAD mods)
--- Gambatte
Added new options in "options.ini" to define paths to new cores, roms and covers (pce, wsw, prb folders in ./ROMS and ./covers_retro)

The the following improvements are for those using the Cobra-USB dongle:

Added support for PIC1.PNG background images for local (internal HDD and external USB HDD) PS3 games in ISO format
Added support for coverart for local PS3 games in ISO format
Added support for game icons (ICON0.PNG) to mmOS Desktop shortcuts for local PS3 games in ISO format
Fixed sort order of Game column when only PS3 games in ISO format are listed
Fixed issue with Retro column (when detaching USB HDD while scanning for ROMs)

Save / Load Support for Mednafen_PCE_Fast Core
Save / Load Support for Mednafen-Wswan Core
Return to multiMAN has been fixed.
Pressing "UP" in InGame menu goes to last option of the list for faster selection
ZIP support in mM allows loading any zipped rom from mM
Coverart Support for the new cores that are supported via mmCM
Support to load ROMs from network PC (zipped, too) via mmCM

Note: #1 For Neo-Geo ROMs to boot you must have the rewind feature turned off in Retro Arch settings. (Video Ram Error)
Note: #2 Imame4all is not included in this port. However if you have used it and enjoyed it, just download pete_uk's 0.9.7 RC-1 build and save that core and add it to this into the RetroArch core Folders.

Go to tv overscan in multiman settings and adjust the percentage to your liking.
Great job deank. That's pretty neat to be able to extract zip files within multiman. Can we extract rar. files also? I'm not next to my ps3 to try yet.
Also, is there away to change just the Mmos background? I dont want the same wallpaper for every display.

there should be an overscan option somewhere.

also, i never really thought about it, but i'm so glad he added pushing up goes to last option! That is quite the time saver sometimes.

Oh, and, is there any information on how to set up the network for loading roms? I'm sure someone's gonna ask. I'm slightly curious but all my roms/zips are on my external.

Browse to your image in mmOS, press [O] over it -> Set as Wallpaper --- OR --- replace DESKBG.JPG in ./img folder with your own --- OR --- create a new theme.

You need ps3netsrv.exe running on your PC (you'll find it in the distribution as always). You can use Aldo's Tools GUI ->PS3NETServer.exe
You have to setup Network Servers in "Settings" Column with the IP of your PC.

the only way of running PSX isos is still burning a CD? or can they be run from HDD?

Yes, you have to burn the .iso to a CD when using multiMAN.

hi Deank is this version able to run 3.55 dex? Using this firmware Rog-3.55-DEX-DG-V2.PUP and how would backup it up as normal or another way thx.

1st) Is there a possibility to change the ICON of a shortcut in mmOS?
(i.e. Movies, Folders,...)
2nd) Why is your 4.03.03-DEX-MOD the only homebrew which is startable on DEX-420-OFW? How u did that?

And last but not least, is an UPD pkg for those running DEX consoles or CEX2DEX converts and wish to run 'multiMAN' on higher DEX firmwares, of course you can't play 'backups' on v3.60+ DEX but you can access the media, desktop, emulator functions:

Hey Dean

One question, it appears Multiman can tell if a game can't be run from internal HDD.. would it be possible to have a notification about it when trying to copy one into internal HDD using the filemanager?

anybody having problem with the parental control PIN? it wont accept my password so i uninstall multiman and install it but now it wont accept any new password.

NOTE: To get Neo Geo (fbalpha core) ROMs to boot make sure you have the Rewind feature in RetroArch setting turned OFF or you will get a Video Ram Error and the rom will not boot.

i bet rewind would be so useful in donkey kong and super mario. What is different about his rewind? I can't remember why his was so special. I thought it said on his site, but it just says it's like Braid.

Also, is retroarch ever gonna have any netplay on consoles?

because you hitting the wrong download button, that got me a few times as well. Look again on that page.. That is something sendspace does not sure what it is.. click the other link on the sendspace page
