Demonhades.org member tito1 has released a nice little package for your jailbroken PS3 consoles, MinVerChk. This can be useful if you want to know how far you can downgrade your consoles. He is also going to keep his thread updated with the latest feedback from other users, on which systems are able to downgrade to which firmware. You can visit his post for more updates.

This tutorial will teach you to how to know the base firmware of your PS3 with a few steps and images.
The first thing you have to do is:
- A PS3.
- MinVerChk

Well here I leave the steps.
1 - Enter the MinVerChk in the pen, as if it were an upgrade.
2 - Insert the stick into the PS3.
3 - Install the update from XMB (This will fail and display the Firmware Base).

Weird...

My PS3 came with OFW 1.50 when I brought it... but it says that I can downgrade till 1.00... btw, is there even a 1.00 PUP file? I have 1.10 here in motorstorm game.

I can downgrade to 2.70 on my Slim which I already knew but its nice that I can verify this works on Slims

I am pretty sure you need a Custom firmware for this to work

This is great turns out my slim which was manufactured in september can downgrade to 3.40 perfect so I can get jaicrabs firmware when it comes out

Good find. But seeing as it was never posted as news before, I do not see how it is old here. Sure it is 10 days old at the site you gave me a link to. But it is still brand new for those who have never heard of it before.

But again, good find, and thanks for pointing that out to me. I will add it to the list of sources.

You need to put the file inside X:\PS3\UPDATE

It's there and I've uploaded the update multiple times and it still says no data. is there a way to install it from the hard disk, considering that the QA flag allows this?

mmm... Try changing your flash drive. Also, make sure System Update Debug is turned on in QA settings.
