Today will be a day to remember as news spreads like hell fire through all the scene sites with the following.

Playstation developer Duplex has managed to decrypt PSN games and another Playstation developer ScHeVeNs has released a method of playing PS One games on custom firmware.

PSN Games Decrypted:

Since no scene group managed yet, we thought it's time to work on some
PSN games to give everyone something to play for CFW 3.55 .
Fully decrypted .elfs are included as proof and of course for
educational purposes

1.) copy files to FAT32 USB Key/USB Disk
2.) install game *DUPLEX.*.Install.pkg
3.) install patch *DUPLEX.*.Patch.vX.XX.pkg if any
4.) install crack *DUPLEX.*.Crack.pkg
5.) play

And as stated in the quote. The above method is for educational purposes.

PS One Games Running on Custom Firmware:

Start your PS3,
Insert your burned PS1 Copy,
start multiMAN,
go to filemanager mode,
search for:
dev_flash\ps1emu,
Press X on ps1_emu.self

Tada, your Ps1 Backup will now boot and you see the PSLogo Bootscreen.

maybe this works also on PS2 Games Backups but i have a PS3 slim....and can not test this!

A video showcasing a Playstation One backup running from a disc while using remote play with a PSP.

Initial reports where that no save game was possible, but PS3Hax member CaptainCPS-X released the following method to get save games working.

- Turn on you PS3 console
- DONT open multiMAN
- In the GAME column look for “Memory Card Utility (PS/PS2)”
- Create a PS1 memory card
- Set it to Slot 1 (Press Triangle while selecting the Memory Card, then Assign it)
- Now, run multiMAN
- Insert your backup disc
- Load it
- Play
- Memory Card is in Slot 1, no need to mess with it anymore.

And to top it off, PS3 developer deank has updated multiMAN to show the PS One games in XMMB. So now you can launch the games from the game column.

Update is also available online. It should make all PSX discs appear in XMMB Game column.

I dont get this homebrew release,why not just buy a psone console for £10 at a car booty and use that,I have around 6 in my attic which i will never use again. And regarding PSN downloads most of these arent worth playing in my view let alone paying for them but thats my opinion. Stroll on 3.7+ CFW if that will ever happen.

The majority of televisions sold these days do not have an infinite number of AV ports for hooking up every game console. Also the PS3 controllers are wireless.

Great news about the PSN games, cant really think of many PS1 games. Will this be possible with PS2 games on PS3`s that arent BC eventually?

At the moment, there's no way to play backups off of the HDD or external HDD on multiman. The only way you can do it is through a CD-R or the actual disc. PS2 backups do not work yet.

For everyone else saying this is worthless. That's only your opinion. A lot of people will still find this helpful due to the fact that they can't play their bought PSN games if they switched out their HDD's or deactivated their accounts. The backups are useful as well because not everyone wants to mess up their perfect copies of games. Some people yes, it's a piracy issue, but other people actually due own the game. Either they don't want to take it out of the case to keep it mint or the discs are broken.

omg ive been waiting for a good ps1 emulator for ps3 forever and its finally here wooooooot. cd-r's are pretty cheap anyway lol so its all good thanks a lot DD

This is big 4 the PS1 Scene, Hope 2 soon see PS2 Games working Soon.Just played Resident Evil 2 Dualshock also you can play Music at the same time when ur playing ur Ps1 Classic keep up the good work...

Tried to use same trick in PSPemu.
Burned a PSP iso to a DVD and started PSPemu

.... PS3 developer Duplex . . . duplex is a warez scene group not ps3 devs. Either way a nice accomplishment. I wonder if it has anything to do with the 3.60 SDK leak or if they have discovered some other method.

Most games ask you to save when you need to switch to the next disc.

hi thanks for this release, great job i have a question about multiman, How can i let my ps3 boot up with the XMMB of multiman or at least when i run multiman that multiman starts with the XMMB just like in this movie. Everytime i start up my ps3 i have to click on multiman then triangle for getting the menu then i can choose XMMB, my multiman starts with the maps not with the games screen, how can i chance that? sorry for my bad english thanks
