PSX-SCENE Forum Discussion for Sony PlayStation/PsOne/PS2/PS3/PSP/PS VITA
  • Mega News - PSN Games Decrypted & PS One Games Running on Custom Firmware

Today will be a day to remember as news spreads like hell fire through all the scene sites with the following.

Playstation developer Duplex has managed to decrypt PSN games and another Playstation developer ScHeVeNs has released a method of playing PS One games on custom firmware.

    PSN Games Decrypted:

Since no scene group managed yet, we thought it's time to work on some
PSN games to give everyone something to play for CFW 3.55 .
Fully decrypted .elfs are included as proof and of course for
    educational purposes

1.) copy files to FAT32 USB Key/USB Disk
    2.) install game *DUPLEX.*.Install.pkg
3.) install patch *DUPLEX.*.Patch.vX.XX.pkg if any
    4.) install crack *DUPLEX.*.Crack.pkg
    5.) play
And as stated in the quote. The above method is for educational purposes.

The above images are games already decrypted and working.

PS One Games Running on Custom Firmware:

    To Quote:

    hi there,

    I am ScHeVeNs a German PS3 Developer,

I have found a way, to boot any burned PS1 Backup Game, its not very hard to make...

    Requirements:

    PS3 with 3.55CFW
(maybe also a 3.41 machine, but not tested in moment!) ( I use Rebug 3.55.2 for that )
    multiMAN latest version!
    PS1 Backup on burned Disk

    ......

    Start your PS3,
    Insert your burned PS1 Copy,
    start multiMAN,
    go to filemanager mode,
    search for:
    dev_flash\ps1emu,
    Press X on ps1_emu.self

Tada, your Ps1 Backup will now boot and you see the PSLogo Bootscreen.

maybe this works also on PS2 Games Backups but i have a PS3 slim....and can not test this!

    Have fun with this....

And give $ony a slap in her ..... face.

    greetings ScHeVeNs

    this is living!!!

Initial reports where that no save game was possible, but PS3Hax member CaptainCPS-X released the following method to get save games working.

    - Turn on you PS3 console
    - DONT open multiMAN
    - In the GAME column look for “Memory Card Utility (PS/PS2)”
    - Create a PS1 memory card
    - Set it to Slot 1 (Press Triangle while selecting the Memory Card, then Assign it)
    - Now, run multiMAN
    - Insert your backup disc
    - Load it
    - Play
    - Memory Card is in Slot 1, no need to mess with it anymore.

And to top it off, PS3 developer deank has updated multiMAN to show the PS One games in XMMB. So now you can launch the games from the game column.

    To Quote:

    multiMAN ver 02.07.06 UPDATE (20110927-234200).pkg (1.75 MB)

Update is also available online. It should make all PSX discs appear in XMMB Game column.

p.s. If more updates are required/available, you'll find them here.

Special thanks to these developers. Duplex, ScHeVeNs, CaptainCPS-X & deank.

Thanks to psx-scene members alwayshungry & marcux for also reporting this. And TitanTX for you know what.

Wow!, that's nice. Hope to see PS1 classics running from internal\external in the future, so $ony can feel the burn . Thanks to everyone who made this possible .

You need the latest 02.07.07 to make memory cards working properly. Also you must launch the games from the black PSX icon in multiMAN's XMMB Game column and not from the file manager.

You buy plants vs zombies, you for some reason have your hard drive die, or swap it out, you don't want to update your firmware to go on psn.
And you don't want to scratch your psx discs.

That said, I am sure at least 95% of people who use either of these will be doing so for piracy.

Definitely agree. I have Marvel vs Capcom 2 on my PS3 that I bought on release. Unfortunately I can't play it since I'm not connected to PSN. These cracks will definitely help me out.

I'm having CECHA12 - fully BC console. So far I can confirm that same way of launching PS2 games is not working. Sad. deank, thank you so much for always being on the front. Keep it up, bro.

FFIX PAL UK works, but it has stretched the game to widescreen making it look more ugly. Anyone know how to change it to it's original 4:3 aspect ratio?

Okay, so does this update allow for PSX backups to run from the external HDD? If I have an original PSX game in the drive? I'll try this out, because this may be just what I need to finally fix the save on my Spyro 3 PSN game on my legit console!

I did what it said to get saves working, but FFIX still isn't detecting a memory card.

Eh...burned PS1 games? I'll stick to epsxe for now. It's exciting to see PSN games decrypted though. What does this mean for DLC? I pulled mine off the hard drive before formatting and now I can't put it back without errors. No way I'm updating to OFW either

epsxe is horrible. You should give pcsx reloaded a shot. I find most games play extremely well and handles plugins better. unlike the tweakfest that is epsxe.

Alright, I'm just trying to make backups of my PSX games. When I try copy, MultiMAN freezes up on some file over 2 megs. When I try make ISO, MultiMAN can't read the disc. What's the trick to backing up PSX games, and what file structure does MultiMAN look at to find them for the XMMB?
