LV2Diag.Self Patched to Ignore Blu-Ray Drive

Jaicrab, the well known Spanish dev, has released an updated/patched LV2Diag.Self, which now ignores your PS3'S Blu-Ray drive. What this means, is consoles with a broken or missing Blu-Ray drive can now use LV2Diag.Self to enter service mode and downgrade. It also means that fat consoles, with 256MB NANDS, are no longer at risk for losing Blu-Ray movie playback.

I modified the Lv2diag.self with the sole purpose of being able to put an UPDATE without having to rely on the reader.
It is one more step to take advantage of flaws in the PS3 controller BD.

The change is based on skip two steps in the upgrade process.
"BD FIRMWARE" and "Bul-ray Disc Player Revoke list."
Whose patches are:

0x3CF0 offset = 0x419E0044
offset = 0x48000034 0x3C50

This allows you to skip the two functions related to the BD-Drive.
Avoid the error and let the system continue to update.

Still not solved the problem without running Hombrews reader.
I hope a solution comes soon.
Yet the purpose of this is not piracy, but a step to the console without reader SCENE.

USE

Activate Service Mode.
Copy the root of the USB Lv2diag.self entered.
Copy the root file update PS3UPDAT.PUP desired.
Turn on the PS3 with the USB port inserted in 0 (the closest to the reader.)
Wait until it turns off.
Copy the STEP2 Lv2diag.self (not provided for me).
Insert the USB port 0.
Turn and go off within seconds.

CLARIFICATIONS

Needless to say, but just in case.
It is your responsibility. Compatibility is the same as the original Lv2diag.self.
Lv2diag is a dangerous tool, to inform it.

Well, that a great news!!! But everybody now waiting for another solution - running homebrews without Blu-Ray (or maybe marrying not matched drive boards and motherboards). Thanks, Jaicrab, and I hope, you will find a solution

Mmmmm.... this means that can I clone (or rip) a COMERCIAL Bluray (game or movie) in a regular DVD ??? or a regular bluray PC burned?

A 256NAND console - wich lose the bluray playback - can play whatever bluray , at any region ???

Yeah... I agree. Some people shouldn't be allowed to own any kind of electronic device. The people asking these questions are EXACTLY the same type of person that would blame a hacker for bricking their PS3 with a bad firmware.

This has nothing to do with BLU-RAY playback. This is for people that do not have a FUNCTIONING BLU-RAY DRIVE in their PS3 which is REQUIRED in order to do updates. This patch REMOVES that requirement. Nothing else.

after I try to downgrade with LV2 Diag.Self
I was not able to upgrade to another frimware

i want to downgrade but i haven't because i don't want to lose the blue ray playback
so if any one did try this and didn't lose the playback plz reply

Did this on a PS3 that didn't have a Blu-Ray drive plugged in and I successfully downgraded from 3.50 to 3.41. If someone can manage to get pkg files running without a drive, I'd be a happy man.

Ive did downgrade on broken bluray drive already in november with old file. Without any problems.

this might be a stupied question but it says "Copy the STEP2 Lv2diag.self (not provided for me)." now step1 lv2diag.self is on here for download, but how do you get step2 lv2diag.self or is it created from step1 somehow?

any help would be great thanks.
