  • Kmeaw Releases AsbestOS v1.5 - Stability Increased

    Linux enthusiasts will be excited to hear that Kmeaw has improved the AsbestOS Installer today. AsbestOS Installer v1.4 (update 1.5 is now out), features improved stability by changing the way LV1 is scanned. It is now scanned by using known locations, which provides a speed boost as well.

      i posted this earlier today on the 1.2 page... but anyways it still doesnt work just gives you a black screen never loads, i know it works for some but not for me have tried everything and always get black screen have let it sit for up to an hour and not gotten any screen so either something isnt right or it doesnt work for sdtv only hdmi which im not using currently.

      I Don't know what you are doing wrong, but I have done this about 10 different times on a slim and fat, and did't have a problem loading Asbestos not one single time, so you are clearly doing some wrong. Do you have Debian on the root of your HDD?

      didnt it say somewhere that this is customized specifically for HDTV and there will be issues with sdtv
      have you tried this If you don't see anything, press Ctrl-Alt-F1, then Alt-F7

      Ok, weird problem, I installed the new version of Asbestos v1.4 and then I went to boot into linux it got stuck at a buffer error and kept repeating it. I hard-reset the console, and now my drive isnt recognizing blu-rays. Weird

      yep i have tried ctrl-alt-f1 and alt-f7 i have tried 10 different usb mediums thumb drives, usb drives, ect...

      am i suppose to have linux.img at the room of my internal ps3 hdd? i have it on the root of the usb card I try to use.

      the 10 you tried it on are they connected via hdmi? if so then i am guessing that is the problem is still with the standard tv connection.

      every time it just sits there for the first few min there is some internal hdd activity and my flash drives will blink like they are working and after about 5 min nothing does anything and i just let it sit and nothing ever happens. but like most poeple having this same problem we are running sdtv not hdmi so idk

      maybe i am doing something wrong but im pretty sure i am not unless im suppose to put debian on the root of my internal ps3 hdd...

      I have installed/reinstalled lv2 and asbestos pkg like 5 times, and asbestos always works fine and tells me to run lv2 and lv2 works fine and i choose linux (while having my usb drive tried fat and fat32 formats, hooked to the ps3) and the screen goes blank and does what i said above.

      so no workie linux

      i also tried the customized debian pkg that guy made on the asbestos1.2 page that fixes some things and giveg you more storgage space 2gb rather 1gb .img

      You should wait for Graf's version of linux before you brick your system

      @peixoto7

      You probably got into the busybox rescue shell, am i rite? That means your hdd isnot mounted correctly.

      The easy soln is to try a different usb drive, make sure it's formated either as fat or ext4, and also make sure the partition size is not that big, try maximum 16GB for starters. Anything bigger, you may have to search for a program called fat32format.exe, for ext4, you may want to use a linux computer to do the partition, choose partition type 82 for linux, then use mkfs.ext4 to make the ext4 filesystem, which is surported by the asbestos bootloader.

      Try to resync your wireless KB and mouse. You know the buttons (usually red on logitechs) on the bottom of the KB and mouse and on transmitter.
