    Kmeaw, pops up in the news today with his latest release of AsbestOS.Version 2.0 of his popular Linux kernel installer brings us a progress bar and 128M bootmem fix. Since there has been no official announcement yet, it is unclear if kmeaw is planning more for version 2.0. However, these are the current updates to his git repository.

    • ICON0.PNG – Updated for v2.0
    • sfo.xml – Updated for v2.0
    • Makefile – Updated for v2.0
    • Progress bar and 128M bootmem fix.

      Does this mean i can install vlc thru asbestOS and have a complete media player on my ps3 ? Anyone please?

      We cant install VLC, but can we install megabox? it's a media player that worked with otherOS for ps3.

      asbestos 1.5 wasn't booting the original 1.0gb debian image properly, hope this fixes the problem

      You first, X works and you can install the compilers and compile VLC on the device, assuming it isn't full of intel assembly, mplayer is also an option, heh.

      any news on standard definition yet?

      ive only got a 576p crt tv, but its massive so i like it, but obv atm this isnt displayed on my tv =(

      yes they "work", but do they actually work? meaning full suport of RSX? last time i cheked no...so its pointless to have a media player that works...but cant actualy decod much of anything since the graphics board drivers are well...basic

      looking forward to the day that that isnt so! congrats to kmeaw for another step forward

      edit: a driver that uses cell resources to decod video and such might also work, bypassing the need for rsx drivers, i have not heard of any progress in that are as well, so its all the same

      Can we install the PS3 toolchain plus a decent C IDE(like Codelite 2)?
      The good thing about ps3 linux is programming on PowerPC and using the SPE's intrinsics.

      not to seem like a n00b but i just wanna make sure im getting this install right. You just put the linux.img in root on your usb and then run AsBestOs and then run lv2 patcher on linux setting and it should install the kernel and os for you?
