Kmeaw/Rebug PSN Enabler and Disabler - Access 4.20 PSN

Some more PSN news; PSX-Scene's own Nightbird has released not one, but two PSN Enabler and Disabler PKGs for Kmeaw and Rebug. These PKGs allow you to access 4.20 PSN. We are not sure how long these applications will work, so get them while they are hot. You can find all the official release information below, as well as obtain support from the great community of developers and scenes we have here.

About Kmeaw PSN Enabler & Disabler:

Here is a PSN enabler and disabler I've made which also spoofs to Firmware v4.20. This is only for Kmeaw users. I've made one for Rebug FW too but I haven't tested it yet. I have used Rebug's spoofer files and Nathanr's tools, so thanks to them. Make sure you are unspoofed (3.55) before running the enabler. The disabler restores the original Kmeaw files and returns to v3.55. I have also used a reactpsn compatible vsh.self in the disabler so it doesn't screw anybody up that uses reactpsn. For those that don't use reactpsn, you won't notice anyway.

To enable PSN and spoof to v4.20, run the enabler, the screen will go black for about 15 secs, PS3 will then restart, your pad will have disconnected too so press the PS button. You can now check your firmware version in system info, it should say 'version 4.20' and you should now be able to connect to PSN. To disable and return to v3.55, just run the disabler, screen goes black again and PS3 restarts.

I can't see this lasting long, as it looks like Sony are currently only checking the firmware version above and beyond what Rebug have already done.

About Rebug PSN Enabler:

As promised a couple days ago, here is a PSN enabler for Rebug FW. I found the best and safest way to do this was not to create separate packages like for the Kmeaw version, but to modify the 'Rebug 0.7 Update Package' then use Rebug's own CEX/DEX Selector. You must already be using Rebug FW 3.55.2 to use this. If you have already installed Rebug's Official Update 0.7 before, you can still install this.

Before you install this package, make sure you are in 'normal' mode (3.55). If you are already spoofed to 4.11 (rebug mode), use Rebug's CEX/DEX selector to change back to 3.55. Do this by pressing 'L1 + Cross(X)' within the selector. Status should say 'Normal Mode'. Exit selector and check system FW is 3.55.

Now install the 'Rebug_PSN_UPDATE_0.7r2_3.55.2.pkg' from the link below. If you get the message 'same version already installed, continue' select 'YES'.

Now run 'Rebug Unofficial PSN Update Package 0.7r2 (3.55.2)' from XMB. Select 'YES'. You will get message 'Update Complete - System Will Reboot'.

After reboot, go back into Rebug's CEX/DEX selector. Press 'L1 + Circle(O)' to activate Rebug mode. Press 'PS' button and exit the selector. System will reboot. Now check in system settings/info that your firmware version says 'version 4.20'. If it does, you have done the above procedure correctly and you can now log in to PSN.

Enjoy it while it lasts.

The Rebug version isn't an Enabler/Disabler as such, it's a modified 0.7 update package to allow PSN. After installation, you then use Rebugs CEX/DEX selector as normal to enable/disable spoof. You can then uninstall the 0.7 update pkg afterwards.

if i'm on kmeaw 3.55, but am spoofed(think i'm spoofed to 3.73) would the disabler put me back to "unspoofed 3.55" or do i need to take another route to get back there before using the 4.20 spoof/psn enabler?

I'd spoof it to 4.20 since your under 4.20. The disabler would put you back to 3.55 so there should be nothing to worry about.

BTW, Thanks for this. This Also works well on MFW 3.55 .

PS3-MFW 3.55 with all urls diabled but the playstation.net. I can once again use PSN.

But even without this (and remaining on 3.55) I one could just use f***PSN right? But with this one is able to connect directly (No need to alter the DNS, just set everything to automatic and sign on), correct?

just a question here ! what if sony released a new/higher FW ? and i was not informed, and i go and log in to PSN, will sony detects that my ps3 is on CFW ? will it get banned ? what are consequences ? what are the risk of using this enabler ? btw great work !

Well sony might be able to find out. they might ban you and the release of a new firmware will break PSN. The risk is simple. Use of this tool may get your console banned from the PSN but note that since PSN returned to CFW I've not seen a single report of a ban yet.

so another question ? so if im banned on psn? what happens to my ps3 ? does it also means i cant update to higher FW ? thanks !

Stop freaking out. The only people who have been banned from PSN so far are people who cheated in games online and they deserve to be banned. PSN doesn't have as many people as Xbox Live so they try to avoid banning.

Even if they do ban you the only thing you won't be able to do is connect to PSN. What makes you think you might not be able to update your firmware? You don't need to be connected to PSN to download updates, and you can download them on the computer and put them on a USB stick... Use your head :P

I have had no issues with this one here..

Uninstalled Rebug's 4.11 psn spoof.

Install this and worked great so far..

Even a bit better then rebugs..

Why i say that i Downloaded a few demos and i assume they were 3.60+, and after Downloading them nowhere on XMB and couldnt find them on the HDD for some reason (a little research im sure i could of found them).. but Rebug's when i shut down the ps3 would have a message ever time to let the DLs finish before shutting down.. They were done just nowhere to be found after..

Installed this patch and when i shut down the first time. It installed those demos and then i could delete them from there..
