KaKaRoTo update jailbreak for 4.00

A while ago we posted here that Ps3 developer KaKaRoTo had just been able to partially jailbreak Official Firmware 3.73. After Sony had released update 4.00 to prep up the PS3 system for the PS Vita in order to act as an entertainment, KaKaRoTo now informs us via his Twitter account that he has been able to use the same exploit that was used before on firmware 3.73 to jailbreak the console on firmware 4.00. It is to be noted though that this exploit only "partially" jailbreaks the system allowing only for homebrew to be run and those that are stuck on 3.73, to those that are still on 3.55 should stay if they want back ups running. With that being said here is the tweet posted by KaKaRoTo. However, there is no current time frame for his release on JB 4.0

FYI, tested yesterday and the jailbreak still works on 4.0

so it's safe to upgrade (for those on 3.73)

that's awesome. i can't wait till kakaroto (the true super saiyan) releases the JB, and then a month later someone patches 3.55 with the exploit to run all 3.6+ games (preferably with a .pkg file that you can just install).

Any chance of a Christmas release? It would be a huge step for those people who accidentally updated or are stuck on higher firmware

Keep it up, KaKaRoTo. I won't be updating to 4.0, but everyone else deserves to have their PS3 unlocked.

what is the point of the kaKaRoTo Exploit ? if he its not gunna support Backup Managers therefor no games

At this time it does not support backup managers. This is why it is not being released. Once it is released I am sure it will have all the features 3.55 offers. I would not expect to see any new cfw until early 2012 though.

kakaroto will not allow backup managers in his explot nor will he try to add it that is peek and poke which is not required for 95% of homebrew only the backup managers if u have no need for backup managers then his exploit will still alow you to benifit from ftp, showtime etc. i hope.

It is not hard to upload a custom firmware anonymously. I am sure when it releases it will have everything we already have.

I see nobody getting in trouble for 3.56cfw. Geohot did wrong anways. He was very public about what he was doing.

i think if he release that mfw somebody could take a look via ftp and make something to connect 3.55 again to psn (like f*ckpsn did almost a year ago)

Ok guys, this jailbreak he is working on is NOT CFW/MFW... It never was and it never will be. Also he has already said that it won't have backup support, if you knew anything about peek/poke you'd know it won't.

Don't fool yourself... Kakaroto's exploit will surely be ONLY homebrew friendly, but if you can run a piece of code, do you honestly think that will stay that way forever? let me say this: one - two weeks at most until someone "Anonymously" updates the exploit for peek poke, and even if it won't be a permanent one... like the way PSP's work, it will be the way of the future

This won't be a CFW, or a FW at all... it is just a exploit... KAKAROTO said it numerous times before.
