JFW Seal of Support

Recently Demonhades announced that a seal of support has been created. This seal would indicate that the homebrew item its associated with is 100% compatible with JFW-DH. Due to language interpretation limitations, it is unclear if these seal bearing apps are locked to JFW, or the seal is merely a indication that it will work with their firmware.

To further explain the logic behind the belief it may be firmware locked, most believe that either JFW wants to monopolize the CFW scene, or that because of JFW-DH's incredibly modified 3.41v2 core, it may make it simply incompatible with other firmwares. Its all hearsay though, as the translations of the official announcement are a bit unclear.

To me however, this is a good sign that things are on track behind the scenes and we should be hearing more soon. What does worry me though, is their specific mention that JFW-DH will only be available in Spanish and French thus far. Here is to hoping its ported to English.

How about you go tell all the other scene sites that posted this (most all of them) that little bit off knowledgeable opinion, and see how they respond.

From what I understand it's not locked to the firmware but rather an indication that the homebrew is 100% compatible to the firmware. Like Microsoft Certified Software. (Certificate)

Im sorry for this but, Heresy is a controversial or novel change to a system of beliefs. Hearsay is information gathered by one person from another person concerning some event. that being said. Im glad that ppl are still working on the scene, but this monopolizing BS is just that. BS! But let him have his five mins. if he becomes as popular as some he will fall just as hard. GL scenesters.

Actually it doesn't say anything about 'locked' apps, they are only tell us there will be several apps already patched or prepared for this CFW wich have some kind of 'standar format'; the features mentioned are:

- special icons (to match with the XMB)
- background music
- 'auto categories' (every app will be installed according its use)

So, they are telling there will be pre patched apps for this CFW like the ones for 3.41 and 3.55 FW.

Fear not normal homebrew will still work their seal just assures that the app (to quote):

I want to extend my gratitude to the communities of PS3addict and ps3news for their support .

As you can see from the parts in bold you can ignore the seal and install any old homebrew but they don't guarantee it will fit with the look of the firmware and they point out that it won't be placed in the correct category.

Direis que diferencia hay entre unas y otras?Me explico... Las del sello contaran con: -Su icono estandarizado para no perder la estetica del jfw-dh -Toda app vendra con musica(en el xmb) -Cada app se colocara en su categoria correspondiente,por lo que la gestion estara garantizada :) Si instalais una app que no cuente con el sello,no tendreis nada de lo anterior y no se colocara en su correspondiente categoria. Por eso os recomendamos que los Usuarios que Instaleis el JFW-DH useis la OpenPStore para bajar los pkgs ya preparados,o bien desde el pc descargar de lugares de confianza que usen el sello de compatibilidad. Exactly, it's basically just saying "OH THIS HOMEBREW WORKS AND THIS DOESN'T"

I don't want to be annoying or something, but I think my translation should be more accurate (yes I know Spanish pretty well):

What's the difference between sealed and non-sealed apps? Let me explain...

Those with the seal will feature:

-An standardised icon to match the design of the jfw-dh
-Every application will come with music(in the xmb)
-Each app will be in its corresponding category, so that the management (organization) of the xmb icons will be guaranteed

If you install an app wich doesn't come with the seal, you won't have any of the above features and it won't be placed in it's correct category (in xmb).

That's why we suggest that the users who install the JFW-DH utilize the OpenPSStore to download the ready-to-run pkg's, or download from their own computer in trustworty sites which uses the compatibility seal.

At the moment the JFW-DH will be released in Spanish and French.

I too know Spanish pretty well ( I'm fluent and have worked in Spain). Anyway there's not much between our different versions.

Also don't worry about being annoying- anyone who gets annoyed by people trying to help is being unreasonable. (dicho eso debería decirte que mi traducción es la más fiel de las dos pero aprecio tus esfuerzos, jajaja)

So I know this may sound stupid lol but if you two speak spanish so well, why don't you guys translate the CFW to English for the rest of us here that are getting all in a huff about it being only released in foreign languages personally I'm just going to stay with what I've got cos it works for me anyways but will this FW even support the newer 3.6+ games anyway? Isn't it being based off of a 3.41 core

I confirm that JFW IS NOT LOCKED, just will be fully supported from dev team to be sure none app/pluging could damage any console.

That seal is matter of discusssion right now in dev team, so the final word and technical details wiil be known in october.

About 3.60. some test are planned to run those games. Due im not in the betatester team anymore(too busy) i cant assure the progress of that work.

But remember an alternative store is implemented too.

As i said: they are working hard to do what they dreamed about a CFW.
I know could be some points to debate, but the whole thing is a good thing.

Related to english translation, stop complaining and contact to Demonhades.org to offer some help to do it.
