JFW-DH Team Abandons Plans for PSN Access

For gamers looking to regain access to the PSN , the upcoming custom firmware by the JFW-DH team sounded like it could be their saving grace. However, today those hopes were dashed with the announcement that the promising new firmware would be abandoning any plans of including PSN access. One would have to assume that these plans were directly caused by Sony's recently released 3.70 official firmware. However, there is still some good news to be had from this announcement. Instead of focusing on including PSN access in their custom firmware, the JFW-DH team has decided to focus on developing their own methods of playing online. They have stated that they plan to incorporate (directly into their custom firmware) a setup similar to xlink, which would allow users around the world to play games as if they were LAN'd together. As nice as this new functionality sounds, losing PSN access is still a big blow to the JFW-DH firmware.

Demonhades stated on his website the reasons are simple and are translated below:

* We're not going to be fighting with Sony to access your network.

* We're not going to waste time looking for ways to circumvent the security of PSN and instead we going to to improve performance in our JFW DH.

* Within the team we have all agree that we going to set aside the PSN and focus on our own custom network.

* So after much pondering we have decided it is best for everyone, and instead to use the power of the The Grid to create a system similar to xlink but embeded into JFW as an internal part of the system, so you could play similar to LAN PCs.

The following statements were also added to today's sad announcement, but the last one gives hope to maybe someone else picking up the torch:

Be aware that we can not have everything in a custom, sony monitors your network ... and we will not be in a constant battle with them!

The video that was published earlier of us entering the Sony PSN Store was just a sign that without the latest version we could skip version checks .. NOTHING MORE!

If other developers want and do make plugins to skip these checks then, perfect! But it is NOT our priority!

The announcement ends with thanks for all the support from the international communities, but if you looking for a new custom firmware to give you back access to PSN online, then you can forgot about the JFW-DH developers as they will NOT be the ones to do so.

I am a pirate, not going to lie, and I honestly do not care about new games lmao. There's like a giant ****ing GOLD MINE of old ones I have yet to even touch. Also dead island will most likely suck seeing the game footage already released since I know now it's just another unrealistic zombie game. Along with MW3. but MW3 will probably be 3.41 or something like that since activison doesn't care about it's customers. I hate dead rising so I don't even care about that. If UMVC3 is ultimate marvel vs capcom 3 than I'm not going to pay twice for the same ****ing game. The only ones worth playing are the first 2. and I haven't even played uncharted 1/2 but judging by the demo of uncharted 2 i'm not that interested so the only one I want to play is arkham city.

JAP language + ENG subs in all game, cut-scenes and SMS. The original language is waaaaaay better than the DUB, anyway, so having Eng subs is all I need.

if someone can get ps1 isos working their a god of ps3 in my book..iv been waiting to play my games without having to change the disks all the time.especially since i dont really know what i want to play all the time.

Hey guys, you really need the PSN access ? If yes, buy a second PS3. I downgraded from Kmeaw 3.55 just to use the JFW-DH, im not surrender. I will play Outrun Online Arcade

Oh, and do you think people actually are like you? they don't care about the new games coming on november? there are tons of amazing games coming out and yeah, you could still play your retro shit whatever you want but still the mass will troll this shit to hell .
You don't care about balance nor anything don't you? yeah, as long as you could play games by yourself it doesn't matter, now thats being a pirate. I'm siding with sony completly this time and I hope you can still have fun after one year with your same crappy games over and over again :P, nobody who respect themselfs would want to play a figthing game outdated or a game for competition without the balance patch oh and activision will do the mwf3 for 3.70 didn't you know how the new games are planned to go? didn't you know that black ops last update is for 3.60? xDDD as I said before, keep playing your stupid homebrew games forever!

Wow...ya this is like a big upset I would imagine to those that are obsessed with psn. But I do like the idea of intergrating some sort of xlink feature allowing us to play online anyway. What I'm wondering is how would that work exactly when actually "in" a game? You know? Would it somehow trick the system into thinking your online? A lot of games when you try to click multiplayer it asks you to sign in? What could they do to get that to be ignored? Sorry for asking it because I never tried xlink kai before, though I've read about it.

If I got it right they use the LAN feature some games have (but not all).

I'm playing the Jap. ver. of Catherine...., do us a favor and make a non-pathetic homebrew game, you know we do have RSX access now. For me to call someones work pathetic I would have to have better skills than they do, so step up or shut up. Which will it be? Thats what I thought. To all the homebrew Devs out there keep it up!!!!!

ok first off, you play games for fun. Not for competition. If I wanted to play for competition I would go outside and play some sports with my friends. Every single game that has already came out so far for the PS3 is FAR from retro. Also I have no idea what the **** you're saying right here.

I honestly don't know if that was some way of trying to say that if i get things free that means I have no friends or what so i'll just move on. and the PS3 has had like 1000 games released and unless I abandon all sunlight it will take me years to finish them. I already said I have no interest in MW3 already so I do not care. I don't play boring as **** generic shooters so I wouldn't really know about black ops. Also, I never said I even played homebrew games besides emulators soooo lol.
