For all those waiting for the latest word on the upcoming JFW DH that will be released later this year, a video has been released showcasing PSX backup support from the hard drive. Also recently discussed by DemonHades was the progress of the OpenPStore, and details about it.

DemonHades has posted some interesting info about the new OpenPStore found on JFW DH (custom firmware). For example, all dynamic plugins and patches, as well as service packs will be downloadable via OpenPStore–all for free. In addition, DemonHades posted a video demonstrating PSX backups running on JFW DH v3.41. These backups will run fine using multiMAN but the prefered method is to use the built-in PSX emulator to run PSX games from the hard drive or USB drive.

Additional info about OpenPStore (roughly translated):

Applications are prepared to place at the right place at the console, and with a style JFW HS (Icon semi 3D).
The dynamic plugins or patches are downloaded from the OpenPStore
Service packs also will download from the OpenPStore
The OpenPStore not contain games PS/PS2/PS3 only emulators for older consoles
OpenPStore does not mean market … everything is free
No login will be required, everything goes through the JFW DH
A menu language selection is started at boot time to translate the information from the menus … For cons, the content will be in Catalan … Those who want another language, will bring
Downloads of homebrew via the websites are no longer needed

I believe what I can do on my own. A million people can claim anything they want, but the prove is in the hands on and always will be. Any one claiming they can crack the PS3 is just that, claiming. As far as I see it, the PS3JailBreak Team was first for the USB exploit. Anyone who claims otherwise should except that releasing it is what sets the marker. Other wise, I wrote Lord of the Rings first and should be compensated.

If this firmware and it's plugins get released we'll all know if it's fake or not.

So pathetic... that's why he attacked Deank for his PSX Loader of Multiman, because he released it before him... And i was ready to believe his b..shit again...

The simplest, best and only way of determining whether or not this is bogus:

1.) Is he asking for donations?
2.) Is he taking pre-orders for some type of hardware?
3.) Does he have any other monetary interest for these updates?

If the answer is no to all three, then the whole thing seems legitimate. Also, the fact that he is touting a moot feature like PS1 playback gives it even more credibility.

i dont know.. or really care to much on the psx back up deal.. but his system was 3.41..tombraider is a 3.56 game.. i cant boot that game on my 3.55 system with the orig. disci can however boot the game iso with the pars fix..but as for the game itself it says system update needed to continueblah.. or something in that line of words.. not to sure. someone shed some light for me on this lol

Besides, I've heard rumours that 1) happened.

It sort of is that cut and dry unfortunately. Its just a matter of human nature and what motivates people. Unless there is an open donation link somewhere though, you can't condemn him yet.

Please change title, this is running PSX backups from a backup CD not a hdd! I mean did you guys even watch the video clip or did you just copy and paste this article from another forum again and assume it loads from hdd?!

Also why has dh stuck to fw 3.41 most people are on 3.55, would have been better to base it on 3.55 as upgrading fw is much easier than downgrading and fixing the bluray playback.

maybe abit off topic, but will this firmware or any other firmware out there right now allow playing the new games from their original discs?? ive been patient for a new firmware allowing the playing of newer games but ill wait till uncharted 3, after which ill have to update if no new firmware.

As far as I know, no one in DH is against multiman or Deank's work, it has been said that loading backups from XMB would be much simpler (and quicker) for users.

I'm a DH user and i didn't saw any donations link, pre-order or any other scam-like thing.

what the hell happened to the oct 1st release date ? and i though the whole point of this cfw was to do what the cobra dongle does, like play psx and ps2 backups from the hdd, but cant the mew MM alreay now do that? or can it only play them from discs and not hdd backups?i read about some german guy finding a way to load ps3 and ps1 backups ,but im not sure if it was from disc only,and will the jfw dh be able to have the other cobra features? like the backups with files over 4 gigs on the external without cache to the internal hdd? and the blu-ray iso playback?or is it only going to have the psx backup capability of the cobra? it would be worth it if it had all the features of the cobra , and hopfully of the latest cobra 4.0 fw and i have no idea where people are getting this idea of it being for playing backups that require 3.56+its only to supposed have the cobra features not sure if all or some though
