  • JB2USB – A New Clone Of True Blue?!?! Maybe Not???

There has been a warning spreading about this product, that it is not compatible with any of the True Blue v2.5 games.

And the clone wars begin, a while ago a team had released a dongle that would allow users of CFW to play certain PS3 games that required firmware higher than 3.55, calling themselves TrueBlue. The dongle had some competition when JB-King was released and now a new clone has hit the market retailing at $19.99, calling it JB2USB. What is your opinion or take on this device is it yet another clone, or is it the same device with a new look. Have the clone wars started yet again ? You can visit the homepage at www.jb2usb.com

      QUICK question:

If this is a copycat of the TrueBlue dongle, then it is safe to presume it DOES use the same method as TrueBlue, yes?

Now, assuming they did find a way to copycat it and make patches work, and you buy it, could it be that these guys did NOT use the the self-destruct function TB has? Because if they didn't implement this in the dongle, could it be possible hackers can make a dongless version of the patches??

Heh) No, seriously, just look at this. Perfect strategy for few more dirty dollars. They create cheaper clone - everyone out for buying it. Later, they'll kill it with another system updates, no further games will be supported, so you'll have to go on and buy original TB aside one that you have (as it was the same with JB-King, which is I believe their work too). They're fooling you around, guys!
Stop byuing this crap. Read wiki, get yourself a psl1ght, study electronics and cryptography, join dev's community - this is much more of a challenge than just sitting on your chair playing new games while supporting this guys, not actual game developers. Quit defending them, they just don't care about you or anyone else, and the only reason they're pursuing is profit, which was perfectly shown above.

help me out here - maybe I'm not seeing the connection here between true blue and these clones. I'm seeing connected resellers and connected board manufacturers, but that's not really all that surprising. Those factories/companies produce multiple products from different designs/sources. It's pretty common practice to have centralized sources for production. Can you just quote the smoking gun on this and leave out the rest

All these conspiracy theories are quite fanciful.

First, somebody says this dongle is made by greedy people from the "source code" that was recently released, but was in the wiki for months.

Now, this dongle is made by the original TB team??

      Brilliant.

While he, on the other hand, thinks the original JB is a damned holy grail.
He thinks of the original JB as a holy grail, because it was exploitable (He says so himself. He hates TB, because it's unbreakable for dummies who can't figure out how to make one themselves (I want a bigger smiling smiley)) <--- Case and point actually.
Actually, I never said that. My point is that True Blue is participating in piracy, and people's main arguments for wanting this True Blue clone is along the lines of "Dark Souls for $20!". If you bought Dark Souls, however, it'd be $80 ($60 + $20 for this dongle). Sure, it's a huge step forward from the discs they WERE forcing their customers to buy in order to play games, and since newer games require these special eboots, at least they ARE making an effort to provide them to their customers.

Considering how TB started out, I suppose they're doing what they feel is best for the customers they're tailoring their product to; if you like it, I love it.

I didn't attack you or any other particular member here; I think the name-calling was a bit unnecessary (and very unoriginal. Be more creative if you want to insult me and provoke others to laugh).

The original JB makers weren't foreseeing enough to incorporate DRM into their device. Just ****ing imagine what would've happen then. Maybe ze patches from Sony would've been different (I don't know, I'm no modder/hacker/scener/ePenis-needer - Ino not of ze basics and couldn't care less).
Here's the problem - you just stated you don't know/understand the basics, so you don't really know (or care) about what my argument is based on in the first place. Why care enough to flame me, then?

And for the record, the DRM that people are complaining about is what TB uses to protect their dongle from the 'scene' (you know, the guys who upload all those games for you to download for free) from reading it. If all you care about is free games, then this should concern you more than it does me.
      Anyways:
I don't get why the ranter, GhayLeonsX, has enough money to buy original games, and not a second hand console (Only people without income, or living in a 2nd grade country OR having 10 kids can't afford a SECOND HAND CONSOLE WITHOUT ACCESSORIES!!!).
I have several systems, actually. I have 1 child, living with me, and enough accessories that I don't use them all. I also pay taxes, which brings me to my next point.

      I'm on ****ing welfare
I paid for your system, or at least part of it

Also being a stoner has its advantages
      Obviously

I'm surprised nobody's said these are made by Sony and they have a tracking chip inside of them and can read the contents of your hard drive to report back what you've bootlegged

Since when is the purpose of the scene just to play free games? I'm pretty sure there's more to it.

I just want to put my 2 cents into this I recently just ordered a true blue dongle and I just want to play the newer games.
The dongle payed for itself honestly anyways for people who dont like the True Blue okay I understand that is your choice but just keep your opinions to yourself.
At the end of the day TB owners are playing their newer games and you are not just remember that.
If you are waiting for a free option you are going to be waiting for a long time because it just to show you clone or not you are still going to have to wind-up paying someone.

Good point! and I agree with you. Another thing I might add the Jb2USB does play all game patches prior to games released Dec.5th 2011. So for $20.00 you are getting a good bang for your buck.

well since this & JB-King only work with 2.4 and lower (this is more of a JB-King clone, which kinda destroys the TB manufactured theory) then no EBOOTs v2.5 and above are going to work so is useless in my opinion

In our pursuits we are supposed to defeat DRM, not enact new DRM that is probably illegal if anyone had the balls to take them to court.
I mostly agree with you. I guess I just don't give a s**t if somebody makes a buck off piracy. Its really none of my concern. I too am more interested in home brew. Everyday I check this site for news of a N64 emulator, or something else exciting. I don't see how the TB dongle is getting in the way of these things.

I find it peculiar when people assert what the scene is, or should be about. Sure, I have my own opinion on that, but I realize that it's just that - an opinion. There's no great tome of hacking, no father of home brew. At the end of the day the scene is what the scene is.

      its 20$...

      seriously how cheap are you?

if I get skyrim, portal 2 & twisted metal going its paid for itself.

if it doesnt work, it was 20$.

$80 for a dongle is a fkn rip... they cost like fk all to make...

Then another $20 for one to play Mass Effect 3. That's $40. Then another $20 to play MGS Rising. And maybe another for The Last Guardian. How much will they all add up to? Hmm.

I find it quite funny and amusing in how people like twig are proud of being skid marks of society. Also not sure if troll, or just stupid. . Either way, this is just the same cycle repeating itself ( remember when the first dongle came around ? ), it's just a matter of time before a free exploit hits the road. Either way, if you're even considering buying the tb dongle, just wait after the march releases. ( Street fighter x tekken, ninja gaiden 3, mass effect 3, Operation raccoon city and silent hill downpour come to mind ).

Except it's not $20 per game.

I got an email from ps3breakstore or from someone I'm assuming is behind the JB2USB (some of you may have received this as well)

      "Dear customer,
We have crack 2.5 update, which is on the status of test. We will release asap when testing over. Now only a few 3.73 version games can not be played, the others are ok, Hope you can wait patiently."

So looks to me that they have found the crack up to v2.5 and are in the process of releasing it soon. Only time will tell at this point? will see how things unfold.
