  • JB-King v2.51 - HDD Format Issue Fix

Following the release of JB-King v2.5, the latest dongle firmware v2.51 has been released. Their team is also stating they have fixed the internal PS3 HDD wipe, as well as mentioning they support the unofficial EBOOT patches. Only time will tell if the True Blue team does the same when they release their next batch of EBOOT patches... if they do. But for now, we await a response.

JB-King team has released "upgrade V2.51" and solve the PS3 HDD format problem!
    This upgrade content:
1:Rebuild the Security Architecture, avoid PS3 console HDD harm from Eboots including malicious code.
    2: Support <Ace_Combat_Assault_Horizon> and <Batman_Arkham_City>
    Direct Download: JBKING 2.51.rar

Thanks to rocknihao and dialtone for being the first ones on the site with the news!

King is right to try and f**k TB over.
sure there dongle is a clone.
sure there trying to pirate the pirate, and you should just love them for it.
sure the users that bought the original get f**k because now they have to wait even longer for new eboot.
but it was never about the users its always been about the money.
whatever TB has they should have released it for free.
it's should have been scene against closed system.
now its about robbing the robbers lol.
      gota love the drama.
anybody that's caught in the middle good luck to ya!
from here the view is very entertaining.
      thanks!

      Next up ps3's explode!!

about backing up the hard drive - sure backup a 1 TB hard drive with another 1 TB hard drive. It's fine for people with small internal hard drives just to do a backup but there are some people like myself where backing up the entire drive is not an option. It shouldn't be something you needed to do BTW

Wow you're serious, double posting !

But if one of the users with a smaller hdd do the testing then you would benefit from the result right ? or do they only target 1TB+ drives ?

perhaps you have a smaller hdd yourself to use for testing purpose ?

See the possibilities, if you focus only on the obstacle you wont see the path around it.

To me that means they've been holding off on releasing to see what the clones were going to do so they can stay ahead of them.

The only options I see for JB-KING + JB2USB is to either
      1. make their own patches
2 just say screw it and release info on how to crack the TB and make it open source

Otherwise this is going to be an endless back and forth between the dongle makers and it's going to mean longer and longer waits in between releases and unnecessary firmware updates

its funny that a business based on piracy is concerned so deeply about being pirated lol its f n funny as hell. theres sure to be a battle of updates to beat back the piracy just as sony did to the scene not so long ago, just now the scene is doing it to itself. the drama never ends....

Would that principle be not to steal from other thieves ? fortunately its hardly ever practiced !
What is happening might ultimately lead to salvation (of the scene) in case the war makes the warlords (dongle teams) crippled, and thereby give up their stronghold on the civillians (hookhanded onelegged eyepatched end-users meself to be included... gaarrhh)

I've asked this before but got no answer.

DOES the JB-King dongle use the same type of Draconic DRM TB uses which makes the dongle "kill" itself when you try to access it's files?

JB-King was able to replicate TB, so they found a way through, right?

This whole situation is so funny.
It s like two persons want to have sexual intercourse----customer and TB.
And here comes JB-King and says lets do it together--customer--TB and JB-King.
TB says it is not normal to do it as three persons---only two persons are allowed to do it.
But JB-King still wants to do dirty sexual intercourse.
Any way dont get me wrong--but it is how it looks if to see all this situation from side.

What am I wondering is this:
Where is "HERMES"? Why he stopped to release his nice "Payloads"?
I have the latest version Hermes 4b----Is there any new one?
Maybe he released version 5b--but we just do not know about it?

not that serious - glitch with the double posts. I usually catch them and delete when they happen. Missed this one

I personally bought the real TB so I don't have to worry about testing. My point was that backing up large drives to test is not always an optioin. I still have the original 120 GB drive from my PS3 but if I was going to go to all the trouble of doing a dual boot it would be with an E3 flasher so I can have PSN and CFW - not to test patches for some knockoff. And after you tested the patches you'd have to transfer your savegames back to your main hard drive or play the sections of the games over again.

And about letting others with small hard drives do the testing - I only trust what 4 or 5 people on here say when it comes to testing anything. Especially something as serious as a potential HD wipe. So let's say there's 40 new people that swear up and down that the new patches work. For all anybody would know they could be spammers or just kids with a grudge trying to wreck your system. The people I would trust have proven that they know what they're talking about and you can tell they want to help people. And I'm sure those 4 or 5 people have upgraded their hard drives and own the real TB too and aren't that likely to do the testing for the knockoffs. So, in other words, there would end up being nobody available to do the testing that I would trust with my system

Do you see that I've looked at it from more than 1 side and have put a little thought into it? Sometimes there aren't that many paths around something

The only thing is that TB was trying to be the only hooker on the street, and JB came along to benefit from an allready existing market.
I say dont use (pay for) prostitues.... if theres no money to gain from it they are likely to try to offer sex to someone anyway to get the much needed attention.

Would it be possible to transfer the gameprogress to the "original" hdd from the testing one, using a simple filemanager and a usb/flash ?

Again focusing only on the obstacle, im sure broadning your focus will reveal that not all posters here are malicious (you could check up on posting history), and furthermore i am sure that there are members with a history in here that own the JB and are willing to report result of testing done for their own benefit.
Look outside your select few, and surely there will be more than 4 or 5 you can trust.
Believe me, around this obstacle there is a path.........

BTW the remark about doubleposting was meant to be humorous, no point intended, i believe you know you way around fora and proper etiquette

Furthermore i dont own any of the dongles, but i do like the broadening of possibilities, wich a sigle player hardly has any incitement for, just wish they would go open source, just oppinionating

again, there are only 4 or 5 that have the same testing standards that I do and have the experience to do it right and like I said, they're probably not willing to do that kind of testing for a knockoff either. Feel free to trust your system to the hands of anybody and everybody. Just no complaints when it bites you in the ass

You still haven't really looked at all possibilities.

It is still possible one of those 5 people have a smaller SATA HDD, can swap their big one for the small one and then test it.. It wouldn't take long.

If not that then the people you don't trust could make video evidence, of them running a game and then it making them format the HDD... If you still think they made some kind of bogus game that only formats the HDD, then they can start the video by showing the files in detail. This is two things I got just from the top of my head so given more thought I am sure there are ways for getting reliable results from more than just 5 people.

Another problem tho is that the anti-clone/hd wipe features were reported to occur at random intevals or at set points in time. So let's say people get the patches working on the clones and can show videos, swear up and down and they can play fine for 2 or 3 days. Then all of a sudden a week, 2 weeks, or a month later you start seeing a bunch of people saying their systems failed. Now you've got a bunch of people with dead PS3's because of those proof videos/claims. They were good at the time but mean nothing anymore

I promise you I've put thought into what I'm saying. Like I said it won't affect me personally because I have the real deal TB. I'm saying that people with the clones need to be extremely cautious when using any new eboot fixes.

I'm also saying that if JB-King and JB2USB want to be taken seriously they need to start making their own game patches and firmware so they're not under the thumb of TB + PARADOX. If they truly understand how the items they're making works then it shouldn't be a problem for them to do their own software. Only then will TB not be able to make these kinds of threats. And just because one problem has been identified and "fixed" doesn't mean there aren't other ticking time bombs coded in to the firmware/eboots to fight against the clones/counterfeits. Instead of wiping the hard drive a simple attack would be to delete every eboot.bin in the \game and \GAMES folders - or the SFO and SFB for every backup. It could be done in 30-45 seconds before anybody even realized what happened

Isn't it better to be over-cautious than not cautious enough? In the end it's your console and you have to decide what to do with it

How did you ever decide to install a cfw in first place ? did you know these 4 or 5 people then ?
on the humorous side i could add, wheres your pioneer spirit ? an e3 flasher or progskeet would recover most possible situations you could be put in ('cept a toasted dongle)
    1. BahumatLord's Avatar

I did research before installing CFW and was already familiar with doing it for other systems/gadgets. I didn't just pick one and install it. That's why I don't have a Wankiko brick. I didn't do it blindly like some people are having blind faith in these clones that can't even do their own code. Yes, an e3 flasher or progskeet could fix most problems along with the dozens or hundreds of hours spent replacing everything on my drive.

I don't know how else to explain what I'm trying to get across. If you back a piece of hardware that is totally dependent on somebody else's software you're going to run into problems. I can't make it any simpler than that

You obviously haven't read anything I wrote and don't plan to. You've got tunnel vision or you're looking for an argument for argument's sake. I was not talking about a monopoly. I said the clones need to do their own software to be taken seriously and the customers need to protect themselves and be cautious until they do. Your response had nothing to do with anything I was talking about
