  • Iris Manager 2.21 - by Estwald

The backup manager Iris Manager receives a small update today from developer Estwald (Hermes), This update brings it to version 2.21. Added was a payload for 4.30DEX by Miralatijera. Also replaced was "app_home/PS3_GAME" on the XMB to a BR disc icon and the word "game". for complete details checkout the change log below.

    Version 2.21 (Miralatijera)
    New for Version 2.21:

    - Miralatijera adds payload for 4.30Dex

    - Modified the patched explore_plugin tool to show the BR disk icon and the word “game” in the XMB instead of “/app_home/PS3_GAME” (from a functional point of view should not change anything: it is only to distinguish when used one way or another)

now this has 3.41 support to whoever asked.

so, besides 3.41 support, are MM and Iris just gonna trade off new features everytime someone comes out with something? not trying to start a flame war, it's a joke

Not a joke its called progression..

Some features get traded here and there. As multiMAN has taken features and ideas from Iris Manager, and Iris manager has taken ideas from multiMAN.

What it does is make both better applications. Instead of this scene thinking everything is a competition you have to look at the good. of seeing how both can make each other better

that was the joke. deank creates cool feature, next Iris update adds it. Hermes adds a cool feature, next multiMAN update adds it.

just saying, it's nice especially for people who prefer one over the other, you can't really miss out on anything. just waiting for one of them to create something that they want only their manager to have but i doubt that'd happen. they're not those kind of people.

So I guess we have to patch the explore_plugin again, am I right? BTW I love Iris and multiman equally, so I'm glad they are both around! Thanks Estwald and deank!

It would be cool to see what Deank and Estwald could do if they worked on the same backup manager together.

you're pretty much seeing it. deank seems to enjoy a multiple file manager for everything on the ps3 whereas Hermes seems to enjoy the "just do it" approach.

      I would disagree.
While they are making each other better in some ways. They are not working with each other directly, just taking ideas from each other that are made public

The clash between the two apps is something that really needs to be fixed.

I think with mM's version/update from yesterday the issues should be gone. I didn't test all scenarios, but at least mM should not have issues if launched after Iris. If Estwald adds one pokeq(0x80000000000000E8, 0) when Iris starts (to clear mM's map table) it should also help.

The problem I describe is still there even in the update.

      Same as before:
It seems first time around they dont clash but when you enter them on the 2nd time they do

Explain step by step what you do and how to reproduce the problem and I'll see what I can do. Also make sure that you use mM's update from yesterday.

@deank let me do some things here in a bit and test some more scenarios out and i will give you a better idea. That way we can pinpoint the issues better.

      Thanks

      @deank .

I have your latest update the 2nd 04.20.04 installed (one from yesterday) & latest Iris.

      1.) Turn on PS3
      2.) Enter Iris
      3.) Boot PS1 game (plays)
      4.) Quit
      5.) Enter multiMAN.
      6.) Quit multiMAN
      7.) Enter Iris
8.) Boot PS1 game Black Screen Freeze.

      --------------
      now if i do this:

      1.) turn on PS3
      2.) Enter mM
      3.) Quit
      4.) Enter Iris
      5.) Boot Ps1 (plays)
      6.) Quit
      7.) Enter Iris again
8.) Boot Ps1 it is fine

let me know if you need more info or more scenarios..

It seems that Iris skips some checks and can't prepare its ps1 environment after mM resets some of the lv2 syscalls. I thought that mM or Iris blackscreened on startup or something worse, but it is only related to ps1 backups. I don't think I can do more in mM.

Well there is issue with PS3 games as well.

      1.) Turn on PS3
      2.) Enter Iris
      3.) select PS3 game
      4.) Back to XMB
6.) Goto App Home and boot game plays
      7.) Enter multiMAN.
      8.) Quit multiMAN
      9.) Enter Iris
      10.) Select PS3 game
      11.) Back to XMB
12.) Goto App Home to boot game and no game is mounted.

So it is acting same way, the only difference is the PS1 games direct boot and PS3 games you have to go and select the game at App home but. neither is working for whatever reason.

When the BD-Emulator is turned off in mM and same steps preformed there is no issue

Ok, it is definitely a problem in Iris. After mM is used Iris doesn't enable its patches for path-maps/redirections.
