This is the tutorial of how to install rockbox into your idevice
And when you come to the step that tells you to use hermes you use the downgrader instead

ok i already have rockbox on my ipod.

so what do I do, replace all the files on my ipod?

There are ALOT of files from the shuffle2-rockbox_psgroove.zip which file is the downgrader.

any chance of a detailed tutorial?

Ill have a look if i can find a better tutorial but
The psgroove map u have in the root of your ipod
Thats where all the files shoud be saved after u extract the zip file

the only thing in my psgroove folder were all the payloads.

inside my .rockbox folder there was a lot of folders with the same name as the ones in shuffe2rockboxpsgroove.zip ... do i replace any files in there?

Yes replace the files there
I assume u used rockbox before to jailbreak your ps3 3.41?

This will simply replace jailbreak and save downgrade instead
After you finished downgrading you can put your jailbreak back uo

If you downgrade then yes u wont b able to play blurays
If you jailbreak it then you can still play blu rays

But people are working on a fix and its still testing
So shoudnt be long left for a fix

Just replace the folders in .rockbox with the same names

And no havent tested it but this guy made also jailbreak using the same method and worked flawlessly so hes trustable and the work is done bt kakarot which is another member which releases us downgrade through any usb dongle so no need to worry

And yes u need modified pup and 2 .self files but thats easy just drag and drop to root of usb do downgrade n then remove your ps3 from service mode ill post tutorial link if you want
But that step is easy once your in service mode then your good to go

When I have my ipod plugged into my ps3 and want to perform the downgrade... Which file do I select to start the downgrade? I am looking everywhere and can't find it on my ipod ... nothing makes my ipod boot anything

Leave rockbox on on your ipod

Switch off ps3 connect ipod to right usb at the front of ps3 switch on on the back and press power on and eject straight after

I will try this tomrow on ipod 1g
As its very late in uk atm and will make a easy tutorial

so i just open up to the main rockbox menu. leave it open, and when i start up the ps3 withe the power, eject, it will just automatically start reading the files it needs to from my ipod to enter it into service mode?

Any chance of this coming to jailbroken iphone or ti84silver? Otherwise I have to find my very old and dusty iPod mini which could take years to sort through
