Graf_Chokolo to Bring OtherOS Back Soon

Today, Graf_Chokolo announced a project he's been working on lately, the return of OtherOS. Not only will he bring back OtherOS, but it will also have the same rights as GameOS, meaning access to the RSX graphics processor, Update Manager, VFLASH, HDD encryption/decryption, isolated SPUs and the Dispatcher Manager. Some may argue that OtherOS is no longer needed, with the release of AsbestOS. However, Graf_Chokolo argues that AsbestOS is not a very clean approach to booting Linux.

GameOS is only good for games, for PS3 development and hacking is Linux or FreeBSD with GameOS rights are a lot better. And i want a clean approach for booting Linux, not like AsbestOS, it’ not very clean.

I have my loader for OtherOS bootloader ready now, will patch HV today and try it out in the evening, after that will report back. Stay tuned.

Its a special place where unicorns and dodo birds exist, try asking stupid questions to google or wikipedia jeeze you are on the internet posting so you obviously could use the internet to search for an answer to your question if you care so much about it being answered...

You could type all that and not just mention it's for running Linux on the PS3?

Hemmer, there's no need to be a dickhead about it. Up until recently I knew sweet FA about the scene. Let him play catch up. It's all good. The more people that get into this scene the better. Might not sway Sony to change their attitude to sway their attitude to oherOS or homebrew but it can't hurt to get people interested. Besides, I think your mom just called you for your dinner cos I'm done with her now..

Hey Rick83. Welcome to the scene! It sure will be cool to play with the OtherOS feature on a rev other than 3.15... All the goings-on with the PS3 sure has made things interesting to follow and experiment with homebrew, CFW...

Hey Rick 83, read up on it as best you can. Having an early firmware ps3 puts you in a prime position to exploit your machine to the limit. Happy hacking, dude :-D

The biggest reason that was a stupid question not even for the fact that in less then 5 seconds I found the answer on google that tells you exactly everything there is to know about otherOS is that if you ACTUALLY REAL THE ARTICLE at the top of this page unless you are an idiot I would think that at minimum you would get from it that they are talking about booting Linux on the ps3....

Just tired of seeing STUPID questions, ask something that actually has something to do with the post if your going to ask a question. I would never ask a stupid question about something I am learning because I am smart enough to know I can get an answer on my own very easily read for a few days then come back and ask a question if you can't figure something out. That is why on forums there are rules and FAQ that noobs and retards can never seem to read or be bothered with because there to busy asking stupid questions about stuff that they are to stupid to use and know nothing about in the first place.
