Geohot Releases 3.55 PS3 Custom Firmware + Signing Tools - 3.55 Homebrew Arrives

Progress continues to be made, on the custom firmware front. This time coming from Geohot, he has released his custom firmware which was showcased in the video yesterday.The firmware works with his tools make_self_npdrm and package_finalize. These tools are now currently released, and finally allow us to truly run our own homebrew on 3.55. Please note, Geo's custom firmware must be installed from 3.55 official firmware. More news coming soon.

Some of you may be asking: Isn't this the same as KaKaRoTo's CFW?

The answer to that is: No! This CFW has more going on behind the scenes with it. It will allow you to install your OWN retail PKG's, with Geohot's tools below. Which means you can convert current homebrew/emulators to GeoHot's 3.55 CFW

New tools are coming to sign homebrew to work with new CFW.

make_self_npdrm makes valid NPDRM selfs from elfs
it does not contain any info on decrypting or removing NPDRM
NPDRM is required for interoperability of our homebrew applications
package_finalize turns your debug packages into psuedoretail packages
psuedoretail packages install on a geohot jailbroken PS3

with a proper make_self, which geo says he's releasing, others will be able to make their own custom firmware with various features etc

edit: sorry I've made a mistake I don't think geo plans to release make_self actually, only make_self_npdrm

Incorrect, this has more things going on behind the curtains, that will allow geohot's upcoming tools to let you install your own retail PKG's

um..my ps3 shuts off after its done copying the 3.55 jb firmware and it wont let me install the test.pkg
it says that i have to go on the account that i bought it with then downlaod it from the playstation store again...help please..im confused

Just tried installing it and it crashed my console. Thankfully it restarted. I have Kakarotos cfw 3.55 on it, there must be some compatibility issue.

yeh..i though my ps3 was bricked..do you still have both firmware on ur usb or did you guys delete karatotos cfw?? i deleted it then tried to instal the new one

Did you install it
