Today we bring you the first of several follow up interviews with the January PSX-Scene developer contest winners. The first interview is with PSX-Scene resident modder Nativesith.
We see that you released several projects in the January contest. What was it about this particular submission that you feel made people vote more for this one rather than some of the others?
Wow, I have not really had time to reflect as my team and I are working and testing various mods through different stages. I still can not believe all of this...
The NewestISH was the first big release that anyone has seen in a long time. It is really a visual mod. None of that would been possible without Dageron and Silent_Pavel. The Console Texture Editor is what made everyone take notice(I did a lil first release which was really myself getting introduced to the program before the NewestISH).
There is some great action going on in the GTA modding forums. Why do you think people are responding so positively in there and what kind of things do you have planned in the future? Also, what made you decide to make PSX-Scene your home for the GTAIV mods? Do you like having your own forum and the ability to control your releases and share with the scene?
There are some Huge events coming up. Some so humungous it might bring down the house. I believe that is why people are responding positively, with Developers like Evil B and JDMAlex. These two really have done some outstanding work. One reason I decided to make PSX-Scene my home, tthousand. He has been a good friend for a long time. Love the forum and ability for control(though I have never exercised it).
If you had to name something that you feel is holding the PS3 development scene back what would it be? Do you feel like there are developers out there who may not be submitting things because of all of the bashing that has been going on lately?
This is something I have been saying for like a year lol. Bashing is not cool! I know others who refuse to release because of bashing. If everyone would just be cool I know we would have definitely seen way more mods then we have now. That is what we try to do with GTA IV make the mods that have not been shared before (Even though PC cars are not on the table , yet).
As this was your first time submitting for the monthly developer contest was it a fun experience? Will you continue to enter future contests and if you could give advice to someone just starting out developing what would you tell them?
It was exciting, but dare I say a tad confusing? Had a friend who could not figure out how to actually vote lol. But it was exciting! If I had to give advise it would be to hold on to your socks.
Thank you so much!
PsxScene rules son!
A big shout to Nativesith, Silent_Pavel, EvilB, JDMalex as well as the rest of the team working with Nativesith and the rest of the devs. Stay tuned for more great stuff from this team of talented developers. If you haven't checked out his winning submission be sure to give it a look here
