  • First Games Appearing that Require 3.56 Firmware

    Two new games have popped up that require Sony's security laden 3.56 firmware. The first game, Dragon Age II, isn't due to hit retail shelves until March 8th, but hackers have managed to get their hands on an early leaked copy. After some experimentation, some people have reported success in getting the game to run on 3.55 with a simple modification to the version string in the PARAM.SFO along with a repackaged EBOOT.BIN.




    Baseball fans will be disappointed to hear that the second game to require 3.56 is MLB 11 The Show. Like Dragon Age II, The Show isn't supposed to hit stores until March 8th. However, some users are reporting that certain stores have broken that street date and sold copies early. Little examination has taken place yet on MLB 11, so it is still unknown if the game can be modified to run on a 3.55 console.

      of course the games will be modified. i wonder if the 3.56 spoofer will do any good, i guess not. Oh well, i like playing Dragon Age on pc anyways!

      That is good to see they have a workaround already but I am going to jump the gun and say in responce to $ony's required 3.56 blah blah "Not to worry people, all games will be working in time, this is just a speed bump" if you look at past trends these and all others will be just like GT5 and Need for Speed Both I am currently enjoying from my External HD (Is that all you got $ony)

      100 bucks says the only reason it hasn't been patched yet is because everyone is playing DA2 lol

      Both games are confirmed to be working on 3.55 with a pkg file for MLB 11.. im not sure what needs to be done with Dragon Age since I have no interest in that game.

      So this means that by the time Batman: Arkham City comes out, it's pretty much a given to require 3.56. >.< Hopefully 3.56 gets cracked by October.

      3.56 will never get cracked. Its not even being worked on since Sony is coming out with 3.60 soon the devs are waiting for that.

      The sony have to deal with this case. Otherwise they don't earn money. Money is their first

      Even that is appearing to be a waiting game. Sony's waiting for hackers and hackers are waiting for Sony. In the meantime they're trying to hunt people down to put a stop to everything as quickly as possible.

      They are some busy mofo's if you ask me.

      There's still cases I think pending that were already started about removal of OtherOS.

      Yes, this is a spoof that installs on 3.41 to test but this will be a full CFW.

      I am wondering why try to get a CFW for 3.56 and up why not just use a base FW 3.55 and build off that instead of trying to keep up with the sony updates if all they are, are security updates and if they are important or necessary we can just start making our own updates if its possible?? im sorry if i hijacked the thread but just curious really?

      Im not talking about some random devs. Im talking about the big guys that get things done. If they were working on it, it would be done by now.. But of course theres no point since when 3.60 comes out it will be all for nothing.

      When 3.60 comes out, that'll be hacked as well. Even if personally I'd say to wait for 3.60 instead of making a 3.56 CFW... But the fact that it has debug options and a homebrew section makes me want to have it right now.

      I'm amazaed at how Sony and third parties keep releasing games with "security feature" that can be so easily bypassed. Noone at Sony tested this method? If hackers hacked it within 15 minutes then to whom this mandatory update is aimed at? The legit users? And this particular workaround has been used previously with 3.50 games on 3.41 firmwares, even I would have foreseen it, not that I'm dumb, but I'm no software analyst.

      i sort of see what your saying but you dont need a certain name or rep to be able to make something useful or just plain good. These guys whos names you here, already arent the only guys working on the stuff that they release

      work in a game shop an i can confirm that fight night champion is the first to have the 3.56. At least the european one. uk and ireland to narrow it down

      The one in Canada runs on 3.55 OFW and 3.55 CFW.
