Today, the fail0verflow
team, sent out a tweet, featuring a new video they had made. The video is an update, to the demonstration that was given at the 27c3 Conference. Both the new and old demonstrations, show a standard slim PS3 booting directly into Linux. However, in the previous demo, their exploited PS3 had absolutely no video output. The team needed to remotely access the PS3, via a PC, to show that it was actually booting Linux. That is no longer the case, as the team has figured out what was causing their exploited PS3 to lack video output. The video below is how the demonstration was meant to go at the 27c3 Conference.
Here is marcan42's explanation for why video output was not working when they demonstrated at 27c3:
This is what the fail0verflow 27c3 demo *should* have looked like. As it turns out, the reason why we didn't have working video and had to fall back to an SSH demo was because this Slim is too new to run version 3.15 (what we tried to run), since it does not correctly support this particular revision of the RSX. So here's the same demo, except with version 3.41, which does work.
