It allows people already on 4.00 to enjoy homebrew like Showtime and others. This may not be for you but it is still very useful.

geohot's initial hack also did "nothing special", from a user's perspective.

hacking is working around problems and limitations, it doesn't have to be pretty and shiny, as long as it does something.

Kakaroto's hack is one piece of a solution required to enable homebrew on more recent ps3 firmware.

It allows people already on 4.00 to enjoy homebrew like Showtime and others. This may not be for you but it is still very useful.

afaik, technically - not yet. it's not enough to run homebrew, signing is different now. but still, it's one of required steps to be done.

hopefully this jailbreak will enable showtime to be used on 4.0 as I am going to update from 3.55 this week to 4.0 to play skyrim and batman arkym city.
I honestly cant see sony takin action against kakarota for releasing this exploit. as there is no piracy enabled, I may be very wrong.

Yes everyone above is right, his release does not directly enable most homebrew like showtime, and definitely does not allow piracy. But someone will work it out and bolt on syscalls and peek/poke and we have a fully functional CFW. We'll see how this goes...could be a repeat of 3.55 CFW, or maybe their is an ace up someone sleeve somewhere...
