PSX-SCENE Forum Discussion for Sony PlayStation/PsOne/PS2/PS3/PSP/PS VITA
  • Expanding Contest Rules

We here at PSX-Scene are committed to creating the best quality user environment, as well as showing support to the developers; which without them, we would not have a scene or a site to call home. In efforts to encourage the members and developers of our site, it is our idea to now include the following categories in our monthly contest: PS1, PS2, PS3, PSP, and PS Vita. The prize would be available to any and all, meaning a PS1 release "could" be a PS3 release; but in all likely hood, we could see a PS Vita release beat out a PS3 release.

I like to imagine this site is a community for the people, and by the people; and as such, we would like to hear your thoughts.

We have included a POLL, which asks the question, "How Should the Contest be Set Up?". Feel free to vote, or share your thoughts. This discussion will be open until Sunday night, and we will make an official decision the following day, Monday.

Why not just do it this way. Keep the idea you just implemented, but make it so that they're separate categories so that everyone from every scene, whether it be PS1 or PS-Vita is entitled to some payout instead of people working hard on one platform and completely destroying someone else brilliant work in votes. Wouldn't it make sense to share $20 across the board, and if there are no entries for a particular month for say PS1, the cash goes up to $30.

But then a problem arises from that too, people will make shit programs and since they're the only one doing it, they will easily get a payout... But that can easily be assessed by adding a dislike button or admins contemplating does it deserve it?

As I read over. This makes no sense. meh.

All ideas are welcome here, here are just trying to help come up with a reasonable solution.

At least PS3 and PS Vita would be nice, and see how they compete head to head for the top prize, that would be interesting to watch.

But what if there is a great PSP homebrew, or PS2 homebrew they would like to share and promote; why not let them compete for that same prize, and forever have their name etched in the (PSX-Scene Monthly Contest)contest scoreboard.

I have a random thought. While homebrews are always good, nobody can run them anymore. Why not come up with a way to set aside a big pot of money to the first person who cracks the ps vita or can crack the new fw on the ps3? I am not saying this site has to put forth all of the money. Maybe the users could donate too. I would say the bigger the pot, the quicker we get a crack. Yeah, I know I haven't ever posted on here, but I thought I'd give my 2 cents, since I have been a lurker for years.

Good Idea but at the same time I would rather have something like what Nintendo DS/3DS have which is a flash kart CFW is bad for the scene because Devs run their mouths about it and Sony will patch it

FYI there was a vita crack but the devs spoke too soon about the project and Sony took the game off of the PSN

I believe all should be separated. How could a psx or even a psII beat a ps3?!
Being a contestant in a couple past contests, I know the ps3 section needs to be expanded. Most contests have a variety of entries that are totally different than one another. The only connection most entries have to one another is the contests. I am not saying I want the ability to win more $, I am saying that we compare apples to oranges.

Yeah I know about motorstorm, but my thing is a psv crack, not a psp emulator crack. I mean the psv has a lot more power than does the psp. For those who like emulators, it would be quite powerful enough to run everything at least up through the n64 (I mean the psp did it alright, so I am sure the vita could do it better.) It would also allow those of us who have a bunch of psp games, play them on the vita without repurchase. Yes I know this is the same as piracy. I don't care to argue about that.

Btw as far as the drama goes, if you ever noticed, even in the psp scene, it almost always involved math. He is gone, so things may not be as bad now if the devs do come back. Anyway good luck to all the developers in these contests.

Well how would you have it? All categories, separate prizes? And if no categories get enter, the money goes evenly to the ones that were entered in other categories?
