ErmaC 4.30 CFW v1.3 Available & Updated

For those who have taken the leap to custom firmware above 3.55 might want to take a look at this. Dubbed the next Kmeaw of 4.30 CFW, or 4.21 with 4.30 spoofs, this custom firmware might be the next gen of firmware with the most game compatibility. Well that is what most comments via the sources below suggest. Even with the previous statements this firmware is not without bugs. Such bugs include the elusive XMB grouping bug. I bring this info to you without actually testing it myself. So those avid psx-scene members that are willing to give us some feedback would be appreciated. Mod on! Game on! and advance!

About ErmaC 4.30 CFW v1.3:

More Stable than any other 4.30 CFW out there (Tested with numerous PS3, slim and phat models)
Can run games with the latest updates signed with Keys up to 4.30 without any patching needed
PSN enabled
Cinavia protection disabled
No "Demo Mode", XMB fully optimized so you can have the best performance with your console

Changes since 1.2:

"Demo Mode" is now completely fixed, no more demo/kiosk fw messages*
Some more small bugs fixed, XMB is now fully optimized (XMB is faster than ever before, in-game or not) so you can now have the best performance with your PS3
A few cosmetic changes

*If you still want to use PSHome please install 'PSHome_ErmaC_4.30_CFW.pkg' included in the package

This CFW will not brick your PS3 System or Harddrive if you install it properly. Use it with caution, the author of this CFW will not be held responsible for any damage that may be caused to your system.

You need to be on 3.55 ofw or cfw to install ErmaC CFW. Please downgrade using the proper procedures (999 downgrader from Rebug team is the best option) and after downgrading please install and run 'toggle_qa.pkg' on your PS3 before upgrading again to the new version.

Use exactly the same precautions on upgrading/downgrading used on other CFWs to avoid any complication. Enjoy!

After just going through this whole thread, I've seen a ton of mention of Rogero and E3 and maybe just one mention of Rebug. I upgraded to Rebug the day it was released about 2 weeks ago. I haven't really checked in since, at's it's worked with everything I've tried and has had PSN access. Am I missing something, is Rogero or this new ErmaC a lot better? How come no mention of Rebug in all of these comparisons or talk about which is better? Just wondering for my own knowledge, not trying to say Rebug is better. Thanks!

I wouldn't take this person's word too literally. He was being very non specific. If you are coming from any FW higher than 3.55, then of course you will need to use either the 999 rebug downgrader or the rogero one. You cannot simply go from 4.30 to 3.55 in recovery. I mean i haven't tried but I would highly doubt it otherwise their would be no need to have these downgrader pups.

Yes man, very simple!

But mind the restore mode screen first, pay attention.

*Using any CFW based in v3.55 , Just go to--> PS3 screen recovery mode, restore to original --> OFW(original firmware from Sony) v3.55, after than, go to restore screen mode again and choose the CFW, that is it.

Repeat every time you need many times you want.

When I start a game on multiman, ps3 freezes. What's wrong? This happened with Rogero 4.30 either

Before you guys ask, I update from 3.55 without any hardware downgrade.

It is nice to see more people working on CFW but I am not sure about the point in this being released. We already have Rogero and Rebug. Rebug already blows everything out of the water and is stable.

I do find it weird that no one is comparing Rogero/ErmaC against Rebug, only against each other when Rebug is better than all of them.

I am interested in the answer to this too. It may be that ROGERO is just more popular in this forum and there are a lot more people using ROGERO because he also released the CFW first.

I guess rebug it is then. Thanks for clearing up which is best...though I don't need all the extra options. I'll take the one with the least problems.

the issue is people see the firmware version 4.30 over 4.21 being superior but what they don't know other than that...

rogero and all the other 4.30 firmwares are based on demo kiosks and have xmb sorting issues, icon issues, demo mode, and was rushed and brick certain slims and phats. Expect to see new versions to bandaid fix those issues and more constantly.

rebug is 4.21 BUT, it does everything 4.30 firmwares do, it's not a demo, it has a ton of options and features, fully supported by multiman, made to work for people with broken BD, and brick proof. It's a complete Firmware.

Thanks for the help guys, blueprint88, I was able to update to Ermac cfw without problem.

I was also wondering if one could downgrade back to 3.55 and it looks likes we can. Great

I'll be able to answer it for all of us very shortly. I'm biting the bullet and doing it. Infact I'm already safely through most of the process. I'm now at the point of actually installing this firmware and then testing out 2 drives as once.

Rebug has tons of useless options that 99% of people don't need. People want a light and efficient CFW 4.3x not a CFW for advanced users...

how is it possible to play with broken drive while on rebug 4.21 cex?...in debug options there is bd emulation option of bd drive or usb but it doesnt work and also boot option -- software or debug doesnt change even on reboot...

It didn't work with 2 drives. It's in the same boat as Rogero's. I guess my search for the cfw that will support my setup continues.
