eCFW For Vita Firmware 2.01 Inbound

Frostegater is moving forward with his kernel exploit in one hand and his Vita in the other. After being able to get a new handheld, progress towards the announcement of the exploited game which will ultimately lead to the release of eCFW for firmware 2.01 can being made. The Z who has been communicating with Frostegater has stated that the game will be announced sometime within this month.

This is great news for Vita owners, especially for those who have been hanging back on firmware 1.81 to retain eCFW capabilities, for those who recently updated to firmware 2.01 and for those who just missed their chance to snag the game, the first time around. Since Sony can be sometimes unpredictable when it comes to pulling the game from the PSN Store, there's no real way to guarantee that you will be able to get the exploited game. However, there are two steps that you can take to help your chances:

1. Sign up for the Wololo forums. This is where it all begins. As long as you are a trusted member, you'll gain access to the Ninja Release, which gives you a headstart ahead of everyone else.

2. Watch the Wololo blog as it will be the next outlet of information for the name of the game as well as anything else relevant.

Once you know the name of the game, make sure that you have it purchased, downloaded AND transferred to your Vita before Sony decides to pull it from the store. After that, just sit around for the eCFW goodness. Until then, hang tight.

No only PSP ISO and PSP homebrew.

You can Remote Play almost anything from the PS3 though. If you have one that is. It's better if it's a CFW PS3 cause then you can mod the PARAM's to make sure you can remote play'em. That's if they aren't already enabled. Although, most games on the PS3's require L2-R2 buttons it's sometimes a hassle.

PS1 games(.PBP, .BIN, .CUE) are being worked on for the PSVita. Play'em but no sound.

Edit:
I just checked Remote play for PS1 Classic FFVII and the sound works fine on it. But, that's cause of the PS3 system's remote play.

Fingers crossed that I can get the game as soon as its named !!!

So should I update to 2.01 and then wait for this game ?
I'm already on 2.00 so would have to update anyway to download this game in the first place right ?

Its nice but its just not worth it for me yet. I still have a perfectly capable PSP that can run PSP ISOs and homebrew. Its just not worth risking my Vita just so I can use it as an overpriced PSP.

You need to be on 2.01 to access PSN, so yes, update.

But wouldn't it be nice to use a better analog stick, and also map the 2nd analog stick to to other buttons of your choice so its easier to play?

But there is nomrisk to your Vita so dont be misinformed. This is a game exploit hack. All it does is essentially crashes the PSP emulator from inside a PSP game then gives you a menu to launch other games from within the PSP emu. So nothing is changed or modded on your Vita and nothing is done to the Nand or firmware of your Vita. In other words this cant brick your vita. I suppose $ony could detect that you are using this eCFW by the precense of the ISO folder and .iso files on your memstick when you log on PSN and ban your account but I doubt they would. Plus you could use a seperate memstick for your eCFW setup if you are paranoid.

So I understand if you want to have the latest firmware, use PSN, and take adavtage of PSN+, but dont spread misinformation that this hack is in anyway dangerous as that is flat out wrong. I too have several hacked PSPs but for many games the Vita is a much better machine for playing PSP games on. The placement of the analogue stick on PSP sucks and the stick itself is lacking. This alone kept me from playing many games. The vita screen is huge, the second stick can be programmed for any button functions, the Vita emu is fast, you can program buttons to the touch screen. For reasons unknown $ony doesnt have many great PSP games on PSN including Ratchet and Clank Size Matters which looks and plays great on Vita. Also there are a fee really fine Homebrew on PSP for Vita like Wagic and Cave story.

Not to lecture but there are plenty of good reasons to have eCFW on Vita and their is no risk so maybe catch the next exploited game and jump in and get more out of your Vita as heaven knows theirnhas been precious little quality Vita content released for the system so far!
