  • E3 FLASHER Update Video - PSN Online

The new product from the E3DIY team, the E3 FLASHER, has been surrounded in mystery since it was first announced. Since then, people have even gone as far as to call thevideos fake. The E3DIY team noticed this public confusion, and have released another video to showcase more details, such as PSN Online. They have also informed everyone of their future plans, and releases. Read the official announcement below for all the details.

E3 FLASHER dual boot, can with v3.70 play PSN and with v3.55 play your HDD games!

After we release dual boot video, most people love it but it also raised some doubt. We understand, so today we release a new video, and do some clarification:

1: E3 FLASHER not only a flasher, but with perfectly extension because integrated lots of interface
    * We will release more useful function later, all will be free just like when we release Golden Finger function on our E3 card reader.

2: E3 FLASHER can be upgrade from PC USB or TF card, very simple to do.

3: E3 FLASHER dual boot you need TWO HDD's, one for 3.70 , another for 3.55. If you use only one HDD, it will be required to format everytime.
    * We will release a kit that includes ESATA station for you switch HDD's easier. (Supports 2.5" and 3.5" sizes)

4: At present, on NAND flash console, you need to solder plus wires also. And no dual boot function because no 256M NAND FLASH ON E3 FLASHER.
    * On NOR flash FAT console, you need to solder plus wires also, and includes dual boot function.
    * On Slim console, there is no wires, but you still need solder some points. It is easy can be done in 3min.

5: We will release 2 new version E3 FLASHER at the end of this month.
    * One is 256M NAND flash on board and with CLIP, to get dual boot and no solder function.
    * Another is same as present E3 FLASHER but with CLIP, so all NOR flash console no need any solder at that time. (sure cost will higher)

6: If all goes well, we will release official pictures and retail prices by this wednesday !

Anyway if this mean we need to swap HDD, then I still won't buy it. Because I can't use new DLC with my old games on 3.55 HDD.

Disappointing to see we can't add DLC to our 3.55 consoles.
I don't think this is worth voiding the warranty for. Plus there's always the small risk you'll stuff up the soldering process.

      Still impressive though.

Can anyone explain why there isn't the TV/Video Service icon on the xmb?

Good question about the TV/Video Service, could that be region specific? Hope this is what they say.

wow...that's a complete fail...I've never seen such nonesense. Two hdds? That's a goddamn joke. This is probably by far the worst thing to ever be released for ps3. The most tedious thing I've ever heard of.

Pro tip 1: Purchasing a second hard drive is roughly 5X cheaper than purchasing a second PS3.

Pro tip 2: If you can eat with a fork, you can learn to solder.

if you have only 1 hard drive how do you format it so there will be a 3.55 CFW on? (PLEASE ANSWER)

The two HDD issue isn't even an issue. Simply take out your current HDD. Install a sata bridge/extender and buy a damn external enclosure that supports esata-male sata. Done. Buy two of each and you are good to go. Not even a headache.

looks like at the end of the month there will be no need to solder, sounds like full clip support for both nand/nor consoles. what I want to know from the E3 team is will it fix my "Wanky" brick?

You still need to pay 100$ for E3 flasher and tools for people who don't have soldering tools.

Before they can sell it to me, they need to find a way to let me use new DLC with my old 3.55 games.

A much better video this time around. And no solder would be great for those who cannot or wont attempt to solder.

I agree... don't really care about online ... but i do want my DLC ... i have a refirbished, brought back from the dead launch ps3 (bc) fore online stuff... haven't tried the data transfer trick yet ... i'd have to do backups of both drives spoof one transfer from one replace backup which i haven't found out if it will even work..... still a few unanswered questions. This may help in the long run.... but still ... i have no need at the moment....

      Cheers!

thanks aneesh, yeah I read that but also sounds like they're wanting to resolve that problem by the end of the month (@ a price increase of course). The clip fits over the top of you're nand/nor and makes the right contacts to where you won't have to solder, let's just hope they do figure out a full solder-less solution!
