Dual Boot Not To Far Away

Its been theorized over and over, but no one has really made a public attempt thus far, with any success anyway (thinking back to Kmeaw in April). Its always been just out of our grasp, but its been in our dreams from the beginning. That is until now. dospiedras1973 of Elotrolado has made the leap, and is going public with his latest project on dual-booting CFW 3.55 & OFW 3.66.

It's still early on, but he has all the hardware ready to go, just some coding to crack and we are on the home stretch. It hasn't been specified if anyone else is working on the project, but we do know that from those hardware mods, it can't be too far away. I wouldn't be expecting to do this, however, if you don't have experience soldering, or aren't willing to shell out for the board he is working with. Expect to hear more about this as progress is made.

Currently its a FAT 256MB NAND only project, but upon it success it may be ported. Who knows though, maybe the 2 other new projects involving infectus like devices will give us the ability to dualboot CFW/OFW, or even triboot OFW/CFW/Linux. Time will tell, but when it happens it will come up right here, on PSX-Scene.

Like I've been saying: We've only scratched the surface, the PS3's True potential is developing right before our eyes! This will be a HUGE step for US, I wish these dudes all the best.

Lol you're a N00b nothing is impossible. A person created the ps3 a simple person can break it's code and customize it all they want. Ever heard of "There's always a bigger fish in the sea?" Well there is always a better hacker if they want to put the effort into it.

hopefully this leads to a software exploit that will let us have a dualboot ,like sneek/uneek for wii where the second nand is virtual and emulated on the hdd ,or if not im sure some of the mod chip makers will come out with a nand chip clip , so we dont hav to solder 20 wires ,whoever make the wiikey should start selling a ps3 nand clip on infectus or dual boot nand chip that just clips on,i get one just for netflix

Its already been done, albeit privately... So suck on that. Even if it hadn't I'd point you to dumbass comments in the past during the ps2 era where hardware mod sellers said "a software mod for consoles will never be made as a softmod for consoles are impossible". But in reality all of this won't even matter ESP if you live here in America, you'll have more important things to worry about.

I thought just copying the flash chip the firmware resides on, and using that copy on an updated PS3 didn't work for recent firmwares (although it did work I think for 2.xx) but they did something to it to stop that, possibly the bootloader on another chip or something.

Not saying it's impossible but it's more than that as it's been tried (and failed) before, be interesting to see what else has been done and possibly be applied to other methods. Be much nicer if someone managed to hack the bootloader and boot multiple firmwares from any device instead like the PSP can...
