  • Deank Releases Test Payload For multiMAN v04.19.07

PlayStation 3 developer Deank dropped by with some news via our forums in the last two days. Regarding a new payload for multiMAN. He announced this new payload which is very small in size, does not use syscalls or overwrites memory and more. A day after you might have noticed, in the same thread, he released a test version of his new payload for multiMAN 04.19.07. Supports CFW 3.55 CEX/DEX, 4.21 CEX/DEX, 4.30 CEX, 4.31 CEX as per the quote below.

    About multiMAN payload by Deank:

    • It is just 252 bytes (over 5-6 times smaller than other payloads)
    • It doesn't overwrite any code in LV2 memory
    • It doesn't allocate kernel memory
    • It supports multiple path/files redirections
    • It is memory-position independent and easy to use on all firmwares
    • ... and is 252 bytes

    • BD-ROM Emulator option in Settings can be set to "Enable / Disable" - no more "Hermes"/"Standard"
    • This payload overwrites 252 bytes of strings in LV2 memory (and not 4000 bytes of code like other payloads), it doesn't use syscalls and doesn't rely on firmware functions, executes fast and improves performance
    • Compatibility-wise it is better than "Standard" and slightly better than "Hermes".

Let me know if you run into something weird.

Thanks Deank ! Ok I'm on rebug 4.21 spoofed 4.30 using the latest MM 4.19.07 test. Tried running Aliens Colonial Marines, tested with disc. MM prompt message appeared say " game requires 4.31, would you like to use ..... 4.21 ...... " I clicked Yes. Now the game is stuck st "0 %"
On the game install progress bar. Is there a fix for this or is it a bug we need to squash?

As always Deank all I can say is a continued thank you for your tireless work and dedication love your MM app.

Remove any game data that the game installed... Try from internal and external... I don't think it is related to mM's latest change in the test version. Also check if you have 'bdmirror' enabled and disable it, etc, etc.
    1. ONEDEADLYVENOM's Avatar

I forgot to mention that I ran it from external and I don't usually or never really enable BD Mirror, don't even know the effects of enabling it. I will do what you suggest " deleting any previous game data the game had install, oh and I tried running the fix permission previously as an attempt to fix this error. That was unsuccessful also..

So I'll report back later if ur solution works in my way to my job now.

I'd be interested if this improves Ni No Kuni's performance from the hard drive (int. or ext.). I'm comfortable with my current stable setup, however, but will look forward to confirmed stability out of this. Great work, Deank, and good luck to you.

      I have a question
      before instal this UPD
I have to instal 4.18.00 base ? or there a new base available ?

sorry for my bad english i'm french ^^

4.18.00 is one of the last base. then you can update freely to whatever.

idk if you have to go the first 4.19.07 first cause this one is so much smaller.

      4.20.00 is released!

dex psx image support added, new payload is added, better discless support, etc.

that's all from my head, so i could have worded it wrong. the update was going slow (about 30 mB), so i'm gonna wait for a link or just a lil bit and try again.

Litte big planet karting usa and playstation battle royale working discless on Rebug 4.21.2 CEX mode. Amazing Update.
LBP 1 and 2 also work discless if use an old method to create an eboot or pkg file so you can load your games as if they were psn games (and xboxbman, you could also try to get their psn versions). I forgot the name of the app that does it, but basically you load the game folder using this app and it will change all the lines on the eboot that directs it to the bd drive, changing to your internal) hdd, so you copy all the game files to the internal hdd and then you install the pkg that the app produces.
      Does anyone remembers its name?

I think you're talking about ebootfix. I've tried that method, as people have claimed success, but I must not understand something, because I'm not having any success. If you?or anyone can give me detailed instructions, I'd appreciate it, I'm on the latest Rogero cfw.

currently it's quicker to get the whole base of 4.20 than the update

it was estimating about 5 hours to get the update at a snail pace and about 20 minutes for the base which is about 3x the size.

There is a download link in my release post here:

      multiMAN -- Crunching Support & Releases - Page 288

Also the online version is a BASE, too and that's why it is 30MB (and not the usual 2-3). Anyone using mM 04.06.00 and later can update online without installing anything else.

The online server can't keep up with 10 000 people trying to download this big update.

there is a small problem with battle royale: I'm not able to save the game (this was probably happening b4) and when I exit the game the ps3 (slim) beeps 3 times and then reboots.
I just deleted the game data and the previous saves (probably corrupted) and now it's working 100%.
xboxbman - choose a different patch method or install the pkg, then open multiman and check the last folder created on your internal hdd and see if it matches yr. LBP, then copy the whole game to this newly created folder (overwrite everything) and then install the pkg again. Sometimes that was the mistake I was making, specially with pkgs that I downloaded from different sites.
      .
Deank -Are there any differences between the test files posted here and this new 4.20.0 version?
    1. deank's Avatar

Yes, there are differences and some more tweaks and improvements in 04.20.00. The ps1 bin+cue was not working in the test versions without a disc in the tray, too. Everything is good in the base version. I'll also appreciate reports from DEX users.
