Dead Island DEV_MENU - Unlocked for PS3 and Xbox360

Long time member and developer Szalay dropped by tonight with a developer menu unlock for Dead Island for both the PS3 and the XBox 360. This will give you guys access to play your game the way that you want to play it. This is also an excellent example of what is still left to be done on the PS3 if people take a little time and look through their games.

You might be asking yourself "What can I do with this?" I think the bigger question is "What can't I do with this?" Thankfully Szalay was kind enough to give us screenshots showing the full potential of these developer menus.

Installation Instructions:

Copy the debugconf.def to the appropriate folder for the version you want to play. Instructions below.

Edit: just so you guys know you can also copy the file into your game backup at PS3_GAME/USRDIR/DI/DATA

I'm sorry, but no. You'll still need the TB. These are developer menus that were used in the creation stages of the game for easy testing for the original coders/debuggers. This gives you full access to everything the devs used

isnt this old ? i got the dev menu on dead island since 2-3 month or more... dont now if the dev menu for xbox is new but for ps3 its a long time availible. but nevermind. the dev menu is really great

Yes Westwood this mod is pretty old.
I know because I post this on a different site about six months ago.

If only I knew how to look through games to find dev menus, I'd do it for the latest patched version of GTA 4. Would be useful for a mission I am stuck on.

Thought I would post this as no one else has.

To enable developer menu on dead island using a true blue dongle open USRDIR/DI/Data0.pak file with WinRar, then within WinRAR, find and rename the debugconfdefault.scr to debugconf.scr then save the file as Data0.pak and then overwrite the original Data0 with the edited one.

Finally run multiman or whatever app you use, restore permissions and run the game, there should be a mission select at the main menu and the developer menu should be availiable when you press start and a new option should be there in grey letters.

Are you sure it's the same? Looks different to me. First this will work with the original disc where the one you posted says nothing about that and I'm not sure how a dev menu can be claimed since the original publishers made it to start with. Besides, I know the process he went through to make this happen and nobody took anything from you. Feel free to post something that you think people aren't aware of here and we'll get you up on the front page

@jalaneme - we still love our old games too so you should see some 3.55 dev menus in the near future

It's based off of the Chrome engine just like Call Of Juarez game(s). It's just a shame more games don't use the Chrome engine. Look at the bottom of this page for a list of games that use it

Ok, thanks for the info. A shame because I need infinite health, just for 5 minutes on GTA 4 lol.

If anybody has Nail'd or Sniper Ghost Warrior and wouldn't mind testing something for me please contact me. I really don't want to buy/download these games for a 10 minute test
