News comes to us today from the French 'scene' via TeamSGK, that there are two new game patches out or Crysis 2, and PlayStation Move Heros. Now, these two games have already been patched, but with these new fixes, you will be able to play these games from their original Blu Ray discs on your 3.55 PS3 consoles.

    Installation:
    • Install the PKG
    • Insert Original Game Disc
    • Launch the Game

if these games already have patches to run from a hard drive, then why bother with a patch to let you play from the disc. Wouldn't that just burn up your motor and laser? Hard drives tend to be more durable as long as you don't drop them or expose them to the elements. Isn't this a step back for these games?

Crisis 2 was already playable. For a long time. It's an old game.

doesnt matter, its still a great addition to the scene, if this method can be applied to more games than it would be great, possibly even the newer games coming out.im one of those who buys the actual games and prefers playing them from the original disc rather than backing them up on a hard disk. thank you to the dev and keep up the good work

Wait... Umm... I seriously fail to see a logic here... Gimme a second, it's only 11 a.m. here and just got up.... Maybe I'm understanding something in a wrong way...

Still don't see the point. I understand what you're saying that instead of patching the files in the copy of the disc due to some games not installing an eboot to the hard drive, apparently it's like an update package with the patched eboot (maybe not the same one, but close enough - I can't imagine that it would be that big of a difference because multiman basically makes your ps3 think the disc is in the drive to start with). But like I said earlier, you'll just burn up your laser/motor faster and games on the hard drive have much faster load times, so if you have the space on there, then why not just copy the disc whether you own the original or not, and just play from there? For example, I own Final Fantasy XIII, but I still copied it to my internal drive so I wouldn't have to sit through those long load times in between sections of the game.

Maybe they don't have the space on their hdd to install the game?

How is the point so hard to understand? He said he prefers playing from the original disk. I doubt he is the only person in the entire world who does... Just because YOU don't like playing games this way doesn't make it pointless... How is that so hard for anyone to understand?

There is also what DogDead just said. Try thinking before posting.

@krytonic - nowhere on here did I say it was pointless. If you bothered to actually read what I was saying, I was talking about how it was done and the pros and cons - That's all. I honestly don't care either way - I've got the game running on mine already - l8r

You guys do realize that these "fixes" from "TeamSGK" are just game updates from ages ago right? Similar to the way L.A. Noire had a 3.50 firmware update making the 3.60 game playable at the time, these games have also had 3.50 firmware game updates. But no one paid any attention to them since they were 3.56 and the Eboot.bin file was fixed. Hope that clears some stuff up here. These aren't "new" just "recently discovered" .

don't know why you changed your original post - anyway I don't see what I said that way - I see it as more of a way to get a discussion going and to get more people involved by putting their 2 cents in. There is some stuff I've called pointless on here and I stand by it, but it wasn't the case here

awesome! Cant wait until the original Uncharted is playable!

      Or Crash Bandicoot 1!

      or Jet Moto!

      WHAT ABOUT DOOM!!?!?!?!

Come on, Crysis 2? it's been beaten and deleted from my HDD for 100 years. This isn't news.

im not only talking abt these two games, sure ive played and finished crysis long time ago. but id be really happy if the technique was brot to other games, example, iv ripped my uncharted 3 to internal, which is occupying abt 40 sumthn gb. then theres my team ico collection on the internal, god of war collection, and other games. not to mention install files of over 40 games. id reallly be happy if i cud get these games off the internal and playing direct from disc. plus i heard there are some games that just do not work if their original disc is not in the drive,(correct me if im wrong) anyway hoping to see more come from this dev, all the best

I'm rusty so I might be a little off, but can't you do that already anyway? Don't you just have to make a pkg file with the eboot + param.sfo that's been modified to boot from the hard disk instead of the disc? It's basically like making your own update pkg. The game contents will be loaded from the disc with the exception of the eboot. It would probably take some minor modifications to the 3.55 fixes that are out there (with the exception of Uncharted 3 probably - if I remember, that was a good sized fix)
