Coldboot Installer by Team Rebug - Easily Install Custom Boot Logos

Two days ago, we reported on a new app that helped speed up the process of making custom boot up logos. Now the team behind Project: Rebug, have created another app that makes the installation process of the custom logos easier. The app is called Coldboot Installer and it allows you to install coldboot.raf and .ac3 files directly from your USB stick. The app can also serve as a tool used to backup your current coldboot.raf files.

Coldboot Installer is a small app to easily install your custom coldboot .raf and .ac3 files from USB000 (Slot furthest right).

You need to create a folder on the root of your USB stick called coldboot. This where you place your custom coldboot files.

Coldboot Installer can also back up you current coldboot files. It backs them up in the app’s USRDIR and to the root of USB000 if present with a .bak extention.

***** BACKUP/RESTORE COLDBOOT FILES *****

Press SELECT to BACKUP the CURRENT coldboot files
(This will overwrite your previous backup)
Press START to RESTORE coldboot files from BACKUP

****** INSTALL NEW COLDBOOT FILES ******

Press CROSS to INSTALL new coldboot.raf and AC3 files
Press SQUARE to INSTALL a new coldboot.raf
Press CIRCLE to INSTALL new coldboot AC3 files

Short Tutorial for coldboot.raf files (by manster):

create folder on usb stick (coldboot)

place your coldboot.raf file in it

usb stick goes in the furthest right usb slot

install Coldboot_Installer_1.0.pkg

Launch Coldboot Installer

press select to backup your boot logo

press square to install your new bootlogo (from your usb)

turn off your ps3

turn on your ps3 on you'll see it

i never turn my ps3 off i rarly see that start up screen and with my tv it takes a couple mins to notice video is coming in threw the hdmi so its already at the xmb by the time i see anything..

you know what would be nice instead of watching your ps3 come on?
answer: listining to music from your ps3 while playing a game

this is all just stuff that happened to the psp why not just make the best plugins and homebrew since all this is nothing put porting shit ive had 5 years ago from psp to ps3

Hi, I might have missed this but how do we edit the ac3 files?
I think the ac3 files are the sound that it plays while is booting?
Any info on how to change these would be nice,

I heard its not being worked on since Sony is releasing the 3.60 firmware in the next couple weeks. That will be worked on and probably hacked pretty quick.

I wish someone could make me a PS1 coldboot with the same sound and everything. I loved it cause it used to scare the shit out of me. Also we need a page or thread for custom coldboots so people could post their boots.

Here is a pre-made custom-boot with the PS icon, and skull & crossbones replacing the PS3 boot logo. It also replaces the audio with the "You Are a Pirate!" song from LazyTown. This was made by Omnomnomnomnomnom24, though his sound files were too long and get cut off after 9.2 seconds.

I have edited the sound files to the proper length, so they don't cut short. If anyone else is interested in making their own AC3 files, I suggest getting the programs BeLight, a GUI for BeSweet (an audio converter), and Audacity. It's hard to edit .ac3s, so convert them to .wav, edit them in audacity, then convert them back to .ac3.

HELP! I was isntalling geohot's jailbreak on my 3.55 ps3 and then when it reached 100% the screen went dark but the ps3 didn't turn off,and it's been like 5 minutes of that.What should I do?

Bro, its fine. Just reset it, it worked. But the real question is, why are you using geohot's? Get kmeaw's.

I had already done the jailbreak with a slim model and it worked fine,that's why im like wtf what should I do now with this 40gb model
