PSX-SCENE Forum Discussion for Sony PlayStation/PsOne/PS2/PS3/PSP/PS VITA
  • Cobra USB 2.0 USB traffic scanned

Developer Hansi has contacted PSX-SCENE to let everyone know he has scanned traffic between the COBRA-USB and a 3.41 Phat PS3. He has uploaded the resulting information in hopes that other developers will find this useful.

Today I received a Cobra USB dongle donated by user "span" here on psx-scene.

My Beagle 480 USB protocol scanner have been collecting quite a bit of dust since I aquired it to scan the psdowngrade dongle, so I just had to connect it to the Cobra USB and see what could be found.

Becase of a attachment size limit, I posted the file on my own forum. I hope some admin will attach it to a news post here on psx-scene.

Download and use the latest total phase data center software here: http://www.totalphase.com/support/pr...beagle_usb480/

I hope the developers in the community have some use for this.

Link to the psxcare forum: Cobra usb dongel med PS1 support!

Downoad: COBRA v2.0 boot www.psxcare.com usb scan total phase data center format.rar‎

Thanks to Hansi for the news submissions!

Sounds promising. Hopefully soon, there can be a App that can do what this device does or can be ported to other devices like the JB Dongles everyone has lying around collecting dust. My Dingoo A320doesnt have a use now that CFW is out.

Apparently, that link isn't one you guys felt the need to censor... to bad the link you gave requires you to login and the site you linked to is German... so many folks who could look at it seriously--- can't download it because they can't follow the directions to register. #fail #whydoikeeptrying

The file is too large for our upload section. But it only took me about a minute to register and download the file. And it says Swedish on my Google Transtale bar, not German. I am sure any dev who wants to download this will be able to figure it out

You can't convince me you would've had a serious look over the files, if you can't even figure out how to use auto-translation tools. Yeah it's a fail from your side, and I don't know why you keep on trying when you aren't clever enough to use google.translate. Great work, and great news - Don't mind what that imbeciles say ^.^

Following some links around, it looks like JaicraB already found the payload a couple of weeks ago? My spanish sucks almost as much as most of you other have problems with my swedish though.... Private Paste - Pastie

He is including Cobra compatibility in his CFW and he is reputable.

      Sorry, Hansi.

A pure traffic dump is EVERY BIT as important as the entire LV2 dump. The pure traffic will allow people to reverse-engineer and implement their own payloads. jaicraB claims he is working on a new FW, but there is no guarantee it will ever surface, so why begrudge somebody else's work?

Ignore the haters, Hansi, you've done a fabulous service for everyone.

Dealing with ungrateful scabs, trolls and other disruptive influences every single day on here... yeah... it's not hard to understand why I'm abrasive. Don't like it? Then stop shitting on other people.

"How is this news?" It's news because Hansi has dumped the traffic from the device, jaicraB has dumped his LV2. Both are different. Both MAY end up at the same result, though jaicraB's version would be an MFW - with the knowledge and data obtained from the device itself could be used as a payload to be incorporated onto existing dongles or even directly into Backup Managers.

Look at the Pastie. You are arguing about something that has already been done-even according to Hansi!

jaicraB has NOT dumped the payload and has NOT done something Hansi has done.

      LV2 != USB data.

I'm not arguing for nothing, I am merely stating that both methods are fundamentally different - though both may, eventually, offer the same solution.
