CFW 4.30 E3 on PS3s with Min-Factory FW 3.56 - FLASHER NEEDED

Good news for anyone with a PS3 with a minimum Factory Firmware of 3.56 on their PS3, Members Varicela and Luckyma at the Spanish scene site Elotrolado.net have found a way to install E3's CFW with a use of a HARWARE FLASHER on those units that have an official firmware version of 3.56 installed by default when they bought their PS3 units. Reports are saying that it works with those consoles with firmwares up to 4.31.

Please be aware of the brick possibilities, PSX-Scene holds no responsibility for any harm you may do to your PS3 system

For you all that got a PS3 with 3.56 firmware, you're in luck.

Varicela and Luckymas and I have managed to install CFW 4.30 E3 in these kind of consoles.

In addition, we want to add that these patch are already valid for installing 4.30 CFW E3 from any OFW not higher than 4.31 or in consoles with a firmware below 3.55, skipping the downgrade process, the use of a dongle and the factory method.

At the moment, this only works on NOR memories, the NAND ones will be updated once we test it.

The following patches are needed: Patchv1 Three Musketeers

There is no need for a dongle but you need to use a flasher for getting our dump. Several tutorials are available at Elotrolado.net to perform this with progskeet, E3 or tensy.

Once we get or dump, we need to patch the following offsets:

patch1 : OFFSET 0C0010 LEGHT 6FFFE0
patch2 : OFFSET 7C0010 LEGHT 6FFFE0
patch3 : OFFSET 80000 LEGHT 20000
patch4 : OFFSET A0000 LEGHT 20000
patch5 : OFFSET 40000 LEGHT 20000
patch6 : OFFSET 60000 leght 20000

Once patched, we write it with a flasher, power on the PS3 and it boot up in recovery mode. We need a flashdrive with the CFW 4.30 E3 on the PS3/UPDATE folder to install.

TESTED ON SEVERAL 3.56 OFW FACTORY CONSOLES (WE SUPPOSE THAT FACTORY OFW 3.60 CONSOLES DOESN'T WORK BUT WE HAVEN'T TESTED IT)

WE ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE OF ANY MISUSE OF THIS METHOD.

INFORMATION TO CONSIDER:

OFW 3.56 factory Playstation 3. You will not be able to downgrade from 4.30 but you can upgrade with future patches
These patches are only for installing CFW 4.30 E3. Any other CFW will show you "Corrupted data" if you try to install them from the Recovery menu

So, I just wanted to clarify, E3 is working on a way to install their CFW on PS3's with up to 4.30 OFW on their consoles? I went and re-read that part of the article as I'm typing this, I hope one of the mods will clear this up.

Yes, but the console needs to have 3.56 factory base firmware (So you have to be able to downgrade to 3.56) and you need a flasher.

sigh, still waiting patiently for a way to install without the need to downgrade.stuck on 4.30 ofw. i hope someone is holding back just to release it as a xmas gift to the scene

thanks for sharing. Although its only for console with 3.56 and requires hardware flasher its still a major step forward in installing cfw onto consoles that come with a firmware higher than 3.55

So, from this, Say I get a Used PS3. it's on a firmware lower than 4.31 and said console, if new, had 3.56 stock. then i could install the E3 custom firmware?

I hope something good will come out of this, for sure devs will figure out how to install CFW over OFW without any flashers and we all will migrate from 3.55 to 4.30....

According to psdevwiki no ps3 sku model comes with 3.56?

I don't think we will be able to install CFW over OFW anytime soon.
I'm not saying it's impossible, but highly improbable.

Since they would need to sign the CFW with some keys they can't get.

Or else the OFW will just reject that.

The scene has every key to them available. The Slim Ps3's (160GB) that were shipped with 3.41 from Factory (CHEC2501A+) are flawed with the older hardware keys. The other slims PS3's (CECH300x) have different hardware keys- so if you start editing the firmware with a hardware flash you'll screw it up because that console was never shipped with 3.55 firmware so it wouldn't know to keep it installed - aka it'll brick because the firmware is too old.

Every PS3 under 3.60 OFW from factory shipped can be 'exploited' to downgrade back to 3.55- the problem is finding a software exploit in the official firmwares of 3.56 - 4.31. I hope they release an exploit because only the older generation PS3's will be affected by this. That means if you find an exploit that allows the official firmwares of 3.56 and 4.31 to downgrade, only the older generation of PS3's will be able to do it. So if you have a CECH300x and you're on say firmware 4.31 and they release a software downgrade back to 3.55, you won't be able to do it as it'll brick your console. You'll have to wait until they secure it first so it installs properly. I just don't understand why we need to wait when there's lots of older generation PS3's that can be hacked/modded already... it comes down to having to buy a hardware flasher, so I'll just wait until some annonymous person finds an exploit and then someone patches into it so we can install OFW 3.55 again (for the recent LV0/LV1 keys released/leaked it shouldn't take too long).

this is for slim consoles in the 3K series, they are released with a later encryption on lv2, that is super duper encrypted and they moved a lot of the loaders spots in the memory for hardware flashing, but the patch moves it, its not talking about if you where updated to 3.56, and then you were f'd its talking about the 3k series that didn't have a choice because they were "unhackable"

But the CECH-30xx (and some 25xx) slims are still unhackable right?
According to ps3devwiki the 3k series ship with the stock 3.60fw which means they are metloader2 and they won't run anything below.
The cpu doesn't have the keys to run anything singed with the 3.55 priv keys.

No they don't. There' s one left.

From 3.60 onwards (could be 3.56 actually) there is a new install method. All installable packages have an extra signature signed with some sort of public/private key pair. The PS3 itself only has the public key. An OFW on 3.60+ will only install firmware signed with the private key. Unless Sony have made another enormous ****-up, this ain't going to happen.

It's entirely possible they have, or that there's another exploit, but this install key is not related to the rest and if you can't install anything you can't convert any PS3 on 3.60+ to anything else without hardware flashers. With this key you could make a CFW that would install on any firmware, for now it's only possible to make CFW that installs over 355 and lower.

i'm gonna sell my worthless 3k slim sooner or later.....put that toward an older slim or any ps3 on 3.55 or with cfw i guess.

3k's an onward are a lost cause unless they get the private key.....i say it probably won't happen either.

specification-PS3 SLIM 250GB but i don't know that my ps3 is CEX OR DEX console.
