[Breaking News] Mathieulh Decrypts LV0 of FW 3.73

Information spreads via mathieulh's twitter that he is at it again. The main guy who dumped the metldr, has just decrypted LV0 of firmware 3.73. However with the recent outbreak of his leaked exploit of pwnning of the metldr, and after releasing a tutorial of how to do it, Mathieulh has stated that he will not be releasing his findings (no surprise there) to the scene, like he did with the metldr exploit until it was leaked by an anonymous source.. Here is what he stated, when showing the proof of concept that he actually decrypted the LV0 at firmware 3.73.

You guys keep forgetting one thing: The majority of games are still playable on CFW 3.55. Why release something like this if Sony could patch it the next day? Actually it's a very smart move to release this just before Christmas time, when a new batch of games would be already been released, and thus not giving Sony a chance to fight back! I always thought the PS3 scene would be exactly like this, probably there are some exploits to 3.56+ out there but are keeping them hidden until the very last minute! It's not vanity that drives guys like this (maybe a little), but just smart thinking!

It's not photoshopped. Here is a script that will produce the exact same results:

Save that in notepad as breakself.bat in the directory d:\cech\3.73 and then type "breakself -d lv0 lv0.elf" and you will get the exact same results. He is full of it. We've heard this song and dance before

Why would or should he release anything?? When the new JB2 came out, multiple pages of FAKE came with it. Even though it may be using modded eboot files, it's still not fake and does something that nothing else does. Now, without knowing whether this is real or not, the exact same thing is happening. If I were him and it were true, I wouldn't release it to anyone. Such hypocrits. Call something FAKE but if it were real and released, you have no problem asking for it.

Well maybe he can decrypt it maybe he cant. I can sort of understand where hes coming from. I really cant understand scenes omg you stole my code (thaught the idea was to work together guys so that you might become more powerfull than corps is that not still the dream) this is were the ps3 scene differs alot from the xbox 360 scene where they helo each other out instead of some fight over omg you stole what i developed. when no one really develops anything they discover it the ablity to create a custom firmware has always been there they just discovered how to do it there for no one ever stole anything. though it wouldnt help all these people going rage at math i know him so i cant really judge him even though i think if he did share and get over the whole fact someone leaked his code then this scene would be a whole lot better instead of the constant rage back and forth. so seems by what he says ild need a nor/nand reader in order to get a decrypted level 0 and then i guess you find the keys that way. someone will figure this out eventually there will be new custom firmware im sick of patching games uncharted 3 where i have to download 45 gig so the files the patch patches match the same byte size instead they could of made it work for all versions of it

I'll give you that - I only believe something if I can see it, put my hands on it, lick it, turn it over, and give it a spin. What gets everyone so annoyed with this is the fact that this isn't the first time he's said that he's hacked something, that he won't release it, and when it is finally figured out by someone else he says that he knew it all along. It's old and tired. I can't even look at this garbage anymore. I'm out

I understand why ppl don't like Math, but what I don't understand is why someone call him a liar? Asking for proof also goes the otwer way - Where's the proof he is lying? People like it or not, everythin he have said been true so far.Again, the trick isn't in the screen capture, it is in the lv0 build dates (S cause he also decrypted 3.6.6 lv0).Time will tell, I quess.... xD

there's no proof those are the actual build dates, I kinda sorta remember his so called 3.66 MFW

Edit: well date is same as FW but build ID could be made up

Of course, every FW can be decrypted - ask Sony, they can do it easily but I don't think we should call them "Gods of the PS3 Scene".

We lack people who can work on PS3, mostly because of SONY, who are gunning down everyone who releases anything major and we have too many flamers and ass lickers like you.

if he posts a MD5 of decrypted lv0 so that we can verify it once somebody DOES manage to decrypt the same lv0 - we'll know. otherwise i call BS, as everybody can make a screenshot like that.

edit: i'll hang to that string that he posted : "Boot Loader SE Version 3.7.3 (Build ID: 4611,48369, Build Date: 2011-10-12_12:31:19)" we'll see in time if he really pulled it off.
