Beta Testing WIP - Showtime Plugin: Youtube - 1080p fully supported

Hi everyone, a Youtube plugin for Showtime is being developed by facanferff, currently it supports the following features:

•Login to Youtube
•Standard feeds (complete)
•Movie Feeds (not supporting yet paid content)
•Trailer Feeds (complete)
•User Feeds (Favorites, New subscriptions, Contacts, etc.)
•Getting Video Information
•Every resolution supported (240p, 360p, 480p, 720p, 1080p)
•Search videos
•Pagination (Powerful and fast!)
•Recommendations
•Get information about user
•Search for User Profile
•Related videos (if Advanced Youtube is enabled)
•Response videos (if Advanced Youtube is enabled)

And because development is advanced, facanferff is searching for Beta Testers interested in helping. You should follow these 2 rules if interested:

• Should use Home - facanferff's Issue Trackerin order to add bugs you may find while testing or request for features or add suggestions
• Should know where Showtime is located in /dev_hdd0 in order to install the plugin

The second rule means that you DON'T need to install Showtime again, only ftp the zip archive with the plugin files to the directory of Showtime.

As you see the rules are very simple, so if you think you join both requirements you may email a message to facanferff@hotmail.com with the the username (or display name) you use in the first rule or add simply a comment to this new with this information.

awesome i hope deank will implement it straight into multiman and have it run true showtime.

deank can't do anything with this, this is a plugin for Showtime, once development is concluded andoma will add it to Plugin Central from which you'll be able to install normally as other plugins.

Hey facanerff, since your working on this and it's also got a subscription aspect to it ,is there any plans for Netflix?

Hi bitsbubba, netflix is not in my list of pretended main plugins but may be in future, it could be even in top if I lived in US...

WTF is the point to this? We can already "still" use the web browser on ps3...and youtube loads and works flawlessly. So whats the difference between ps3's web browser and going on youtube through that...and this? What? I find no reason to have youtube intergrated into this when the ps3 web browser still works.

There are many reasons but the main reason is that youtube in web browser gives you max 480p while this gives you 1080p, and with this you can view your favorites, subscriptions and any feed available of youtube easily and quickly, and not talking that web browser takes too much time to load. Enough?

Exactly, I thought of the same reasons too, this plugin will be very useful for me!

Is this an app you run on a jailbroken PS3 or is it nothing to do with the PS3 (Windows app)?

Standard YouTube in PS3 is limited to 240p. With PS3YouTube, 480p streaming is possible. I did some testing with 1080p Adobe Flash playback and it either crashed PS3 or caused PS3 to grind to a virtual halt.

Its a shame the browser is allotted so little memory. So you'll have to clear the cookies, cache and certifications frequently.
What you can do on that site is download 720p & 1080p streams to your ps3 with a proper name and title.
A GT5 1080p replay I downloaded looked almost as good as the actual GT5 game.(it downloads Fast)
And there's also a bookmarklet that works only on ps3's that makes youtube a better expirence.

Yes you can do it in that website but this is a plugin for Showtime and because of that you don't need to download a video to watch it, you only have to select the video you want and you're immediately watching that video in the highest resolution available for that video, I tested and it runs very well and don't lag the videos, and every video has image/sound.

By the way who loves Youtube and wants to in a easy way congratulate the developer please simply "like" this new. Thanks.

Yes it shall be possible, maybe in near future I amy create a plugin for it.
