  • Another TB Clone Joins the Market - PB2 from PS3break

The PS3break team is back again with another dongle, well not exactly new; it is more like a clone of the True Blue dongle. The PB2 is the official name of the new dongle, and they are claiming on their website that the dongle is already on sale via the web. An interesting feature offered buy the team, is the ability to directly download all of the EBOOT patches from their site.

    About PB2:
The return of the king! Pb2 is on sale globally on the net. [2012.05.12]

    12. Supports all regions of v3.6+ games
    13. Rock solid crystal oscillator on board for flawless timings
    F.A.Q.:
    Q: How do I use PB2 to play a purchased PS3 game that requires 3.6+ PS3 firmware?
A: PB2 does not support directly playing original game discs requiring 3.6+ on lower firmware versions. In order to play such recent games on your jailbroken 3.55 CFW PS3 you must first dump your original game disc to HDD using one of the many supported PS3 backup managers such as Multiman. Once you have dumped the game, you must obtain and install a " PB2 patch" corresponding to said game from our website. This procedure effectively creates a copy of your game on a HDD, modified to function on your 3.55 CFW PS3 in conjunction with PB2. For full details, please refer to the PB2 Users Guide on the download page.

Q: Where can I obtain PB2 patch files?
A: We host PB2 patch files on the Game Patches page of our website, no need to google these patch files by youself.Q:What are the requirements for using PB2?A:In order to use PB2, you MUST have a PS3 running firmware v3.55 or lower. If your PS3 is running a firmware version higher than 3.55 then you must first downgrade your PS3 via other means (such as hardware downgrade, please refer elsewhere for further information).

Q: What is the general procedure for getting 3.6+ games running on a 3.55 CFW PS3 with PB2?
A: The procedure is as follows:
    1) Download and install the PB2 3.55 CFW (custom firmware) on your PS3. The PB2 CFW is required in order to allow the PB2 dongle to function with your PS3
    2) Obtain dumps of your 3.6+ PS3 games using PS3 backup managers or other methods
    3) Obtain PB2 game patches corresponding to the game dumps you have, and install these patches over the top of your game dumps. The patched game dumps should be stored either on your PS3īs internal HDD or an external USB HDD
    4) Insert the PB2 dongle into your PS3 and turn on the console. Once the PS3 has finished booting, you may then launch your favourite backup manager (such as Multiman) and from there select your PB2 patched games

Q: There is no PB2 patch available for my favourite game XYZ, can I still play it with PB2?
A: Unfortunately, you will need to wait until a PB2 patch is available. The PB2 team monitors various web forums, so if there is a title you want to play then make a post on a PS3 related forum requesting the game or email us with your request. We will most likely see your post or email and do our best to release a patch as soon as possible.

tthousand's thoughts - Team True Blue is not going to be happy about this. The question remains, will this dongle be able to handle the latest EBOOT patches, and the ones that will come in the future. I suppose the other question people will ask, is will this team create their own patches; the answer to that questions is most likely no, because it is not the dongle creators making the patches. Well, does TB have reason to fear? Only time will tell...

They are also releasing PB2 HDDs, which come filled with games; it is easy to see why I have not included this information in the report. I am surprised none of the other guys have thought of this; I mean, they are releasing dongles geared towards pirates or people who cannot obtain a second PS3.

Not only does it look like a cheap knock-off with the plastic casing, but they're just another knock-off that don't even have the decency to use their own code in the PS3 firmware, the dongle firmware or the patches. Just when the TB team got back on track these guys are gonna cause another delay for the people that actually bought the real deal.

I did notice that the latest games aren't on their list of downloads.I honestly hope they can't play the latest games and are just a repackaged clone/counterfeit. Remember people, you're gonna get what you pay for

I seriously hope that this clone wont be able to play any new games. This clone madness should stop unless someone takes a step and makes a dongle different from TB with their own eboots. In that case no problem, go on and find your customers not steal them... I am TB OWNER and I am proud of it :-) i bought it when there was few clones around for cheaper and people werent talking that those clones couldnt play newer games. But i still bought TB and supported real developers.

I just find it amusing reading about TB and the CloneWars, TB is the team that will WIN, people don't realize that they will do anything to protect their work and they have the means and knowledge how to do it. So wasting money on a knockoff is just pointless, TB are in it for the Money and so are the others so that argument is not valid. They are the ones releasing EBOOT's no one else. ohh someone might say the Batman and Ace game where someone else, but wasn't thous extracted form the TB discs? Well any how support the people who know what they do, rather Quality over Quantity. TB = Quality
    1. BahumatLord's Avatar

yes and no on Batman and Ace Combat. Yes, they were extracted from the TB discs using a debug console, but they were also edited to run from a hard disk. It wasn't a simple copy process.

TB is gonna win, but in the meantime the delays because of the knockoffs just hurt the customers. They (the clones) just need to make their own patches or stop pissing in my cornflakes

Well there are two new teams producing eboots so only time will tell what the deal is but the PS3Break have been cloners since day one with who knows how many JB1 devices they made. There was a dongle, then like six dongle/usb hubs, then the PS3Cheat. So who knows maybe someone else will start making eboots that work for all dongles as they may not be tied with TB/Paradox and only those eboots may contain harmful code to mess with cloners. At least there is some sort of movement in the scene. I was overwhelmingly happy to see two new teams this week.
    1. Bodom87's Avatar

There isnt any movement in the scene though. Atm it is just TB doing what the people want (making new games available) and cloners trying to jump on the money bandwagon. They are also going to fail because they don't have the knowledge to back up their product.

Im glad i bought a real true blue dongle. Sure what they have done is controversial but i respect them in the sense that they have stuck by their product and continue to fight off the cloners. Now all people need to do is stop being cheapasses and buy the real thing rather than buying a clone and then bitching about it

Everyone that installs CFW has pirated a game at one time and if someone says otherwise I call BS. So whether you are pirating games with or without a dongle you are just a guilty. Everyone just wants everything given to them is all. They don't contribute with even intellectual post but when can I get this for free or the scene should be free when they don't even truly understand the "scene" as modchips or now dongles as even the 360 seems to have one now have been needed since day 1 of pirating as soon as burnable media became a reality. So what is so different now then then? Only thing I see is they are a lot cheaper now days as a PS2 chip when new was $75 for a good one and the Xbox was the same way. Heck even a chip for the Sega Saturn still will cost you close to $50. Only with the DC did we see it all for free and that is only because the exploit required all the work with removal of protection and downsampling for end user to enjoy. As a Dreamcast cracker myself it isn't for the faint of heart, and the DC has some protection we still haven't bypassed but that is not what this is about /end rant.

Good & bad, good cause concurrence will reduce the price, bad cause this will make team trueblue waiting for releasing new eboots !!
TB are the best developpers atm, all other teams are just stoling their work !! that's the bad part in this story !
IF you want new games, buy a TrueBlue original dongle

so it already reported to be a clone? for obvious reasons they dont state anywhere "install TB cfw and use our modified TB dongle updates" but they dont say its their own software either.

      TrueBlue Clone 4
      Cobra Clones Zero

That is very odd. considering how much longer cobra was around

It seems like clone of JB-King.No new 2.62 games on list.

      @STLcardsWS

TB clones 4 and Cobra none coz who wants play newer games is more than who wants classics.

When JB-King or other clones make their own EBOOTS this war is gonna be awesome.Otherwise TB always be master.

How many more dongles will there be?

      1. True Blue (The Real Original)
      2. JB King (Rips of TB)
      3. JB2usb (Rips of TB)
      4. True Blue Copy (JB2usb repacked to look like the Original)
      5. PS2break (Repacked JB King)
      6. Jay-Jay's Break ?!?

      To GNkyrios:
If you would bother and check the website look at the patches and try downloading and look at the filenames i guess you will have a chuckle or a laugh.

I guess TB must hire another staff to make another protection for the cloner, not delay eboot to their customer

i think what some peoples biggest problem is that although there are mod chips and such like that people have to buy the difference is that they are hardware. The TB is just a usb stick with files on it that could very easily be incorporated into a custom firmware but the TB team choose to protect it and stick it on a stick and then rake a load of money in off it this makes them no better than Sony and goes totally against the whole point of hacking something i have no problems whatsoever with people charging for a chip but for a dev/hacking group to charge for sotware is taking the piss and is the reason that the ps3 scene is so poor. In the 80s i was pretty into the amiga scene and cracked a few games with help from a couple of friends in a big cracking team never ever would we charge for sotware hacks NEVER we did it because we could simple as that. I seriously wish i had the time to sit down with this thing and take it apart then post the results so people could do this themselves hopefully the upshot of the clones will be that one of groups will be so pissed they dont bother cloning it they just release what they know. If any of the paradox team are the original members from the 80s then you should be ashamed of yourself buying into the whole lets rip people off scene. You should have stayed true to your principles.

Oh boo hoo, the fanboys get delays on releases again because TB only care about the money and not the scene or it's customers.

Suck it up and pucker up your ass cheeks some more for them.

Doesnt TB uses stolen binaries? If so, i dont see any problem with these clones in that regard, if the original owner steals binary anyway. Then it wont be like they created anything on their own.

Regarding these dongles, is it possible to buy the original game, just insert the disc and play them? Or do you need to download a pirated game?

How will you replace an eboot on a read only disc? If you get the right region you can copy it to your hard drive and replace the eboot though.
