SvenGDK's a PS3 Homebrew Developer known for his PS3 Multi-Tools application for the PC, Has shared with the community a new project he is working on called XMBPCE that he plans to release soon. This app is an emulator that will emulate the XMB (PS3/PSP graphical Interface) for use on Window PC's. The Ps3 Controller will even work with the application. I want to show you a new project from me called XMBPCE which I started yesterday.

What is the XMB (XrossMediaBar)?

XMB is the graphical user interface of the PS3 & PSP.

What can I do with this emulator?

With this emulator you can use the graphical user interface of the PS3/PSP on your Windows PC. You can control it with the PS3 Controller.

What has been done already?

XMB Boot: Done (Boots up like the PS3)
Graphical user interface: Halfway done (Animated background missing)
Controller support: Done
Category browsing: Only “Games”
Starting games: Done
Playstation Button Menu: Halfway done

There are MANY features missing which will be added soon, this is only the first Alpha version …

very interesting project, never would have even thought of this. what would be the intended purpose of something like this?

I'm not sure if this intend to be a frontend for launching games, videos, photos, etc...
or it intends to really emulate the PS3 system menu?
In any way it looks great! :-)

In theory he could add a small internal music player with graphical plugins or a small picture viewer with some common options.. that would make it a cute media player

For launching games.. I don't know.. too much hassle maybe

I am not sure if it for that . Im sure when it matures it could be. perhaps one day but I got the feeling from the videos its more for using the XMB interface to organize some music/photos/videos ect on your pc. i guess we will see when with the final product, but for testing homebrew and such you would need more then just an interface emulator.

TONYT Yes this allows connecting the PS3 Pad to your PC.

This will not be able to launch PS3 games and homebrews.

Hey one minor thing i noticed @SvenGDK ,

on the main setup screen the 3rd step is "3th"

So it can connect the ps3 pad to your pc. so does this mean you can use your ps3 pad to play, lets say mame games from your pc?

Yes you can play everything with the PS3 controller.

One can also use MotionInJoy

Playstation 3 controller(Dualshcok 3 or Sixaxis) driver for windows | MotioninJoy

MotionJoy relies on a program that requires an Internet connection to function. It does however offer bluetooth pairing, but to hell with anything that requires connecting to a frakking 3rd party website to operate.

I haven't tried this PC app launching front end mislabelled an "emulator", but I hate the XMB layout and the way it functions. Horrid. I'm not sure if this application allows you to use your PS3 gamepad as an input device outside of it while it's running, so I may try it just for that, but meh, I would want wireless support before I mess with it.
