I have written two articles about recent modified debug 3.55 firmware. The first been Rogero's MDFW3.55 followed by itskamel's release. Both of which are useful to those who have converted their retail consoles to debug/test units since they have added functionality. So even though the reasonable informed psx-scene user knows how to patch firmware using PS3MFW one must note that not all of us want to go through the trouble and would prefer downloading a ready patched PUP that has extra features.

Ok, now that I have hopefully wrapped a flame retardant suit around this piece of news, psx-scene resident _Exeedy_ has kindly released his version of a modified 3.55 Debug firmware with the following features.

About _Exeedy_ Modified Debug 3.55 Firmware:

Patch LV1 hypervisor
Allow mapping of any memory area (Needed for LV2 Poke)
peek/poke support (unused lv1 calls 182 and 183)
Allow enabling product mode by using Update Manager Write EPROM
Patch LV2 kernel
Patch to add Peek&Poke system calls to LV2
Patch to add LV1 Peek&Poke system calls to LV2 3.55 (LV1 peek/poke patch necessary)
Patch to add LV1 Call system call to LV2 3.55
Patch package installer
Patch to allow installation of pseudo-retail packages
Patch to allow installation of retail packages on DEX
Patch VSH for Offline PSN Activator
Patch to allow activating psn content offline for 3.55 debug
Add "TV" category to the XMB
Show TV category in xmb no matter if your country support it.

Please note: This firmware is not fully tested. Use at your own risk. No guarantee expressed or implied. If anything bad happens as a result of installing this system update, you cannot hold anyone responsible but yourself.

MultMan (MMCM) is fully working and reActPSN should work too.

For the OtherOS version please note:

Boot_OtherOS.pkg needs to be patched to boot correctly into petiboot!

I installed Rogero 3.55 DEX. Since that I lost DLNA media streaming to my PS3 from PS3 Media Server. Is that a limitation with DEX firmware ?

there's a cool feature on rogero CFW that is not on itskamel's CFW, itskamel's CFW can install retail pkg ang with peek and peek/poke, but rogero's CFW support downgrade from 4.20 DEX to 3.55 DEX and with peek/poke.

I'll try wait for a more stable complete feature of both worlds + some of the features of this one, 3.55 DEX Firmware.

BTW i can't seem to disable HDCP on all DEX firmware that i've tested

this has peek/poke, can install retail packages and supports ReActPSN. I don't think it's a downgrader to swap back to CEX, but this is a very good day-to-day use DEX 3.55 firmware

Can you downgrade from 4.20 with this? I've set-up hard disk updating and would love to go easily between 4.20 DEX to play retail disks and 3.55 DEX for showtime and other homebrew. Currently using the 3.55 from deank's guide as I heard rogero's CFW doesn't actually downgrade.

Also curious to find out about DLNA streaming with DEX firmware, doesnt seem to work on either 4.20 or 3.55 CFW, can only get it going through showtime

so this will kill your blu-ray playback ONLY if you downgrade from 4.20 DEX and not if you install it from 3.55 OFW or if you upgrade from 3.41 right?

Yes DEX firmware do not have DLNA available "in the xmb" but if you use mmCM for dex, you can you showtime and it will pick up your local servers.

I believe this could be "patched".

(Works only for 3.55 DEX atm) people are woking to convert PSL1GHT EBOOTS to retail SDK (So we could have it on 3.55+ ex:4.11)

What i do is if i want to play games I use 4.11 DEX, if i want to watch movies and stuff i downgrade to 3.55 DEX (using the downgrader)

I do not think so, its just a modded debug firmware ... (you have to reflash your EID0 to CEX (you need to install the CEX version of multiman on debug system to do so i believe)) then you install CEX 3.55

32. To get back to CEX/CFW from DEX:
* If you're on 3.56 or higher DEX install 3.55DEX_downgrader firmware: http://www.ps3devwiki.com/files/firm...r/PS3UPDAT.PUP
* You can also use Rogero's 3.55DEX_DOWNGRADER_PEEK_POKE firmware (not tested): R-3.55-DEX-DG-C_F_W-PeekPoke.PUP
* Install multiMAN regular (for CEX/CFW) (otherwise you will get "Error accessing device! Install proper firmware!" error
* Use your original NOR dump (my-original-cex.NORBIN) and rename it to (my-original-cex.EID0.NORBIN)
or in case of NAND: Use your original NAND dump (my-original-cex.NANDBIN) and rename it to (my-original-cex.EID0.NANDBIN)
* Double click on your CEX flash file in mmOS (i.e. /dev_usb000/my-original-cex.EID0.NORBIN or /dev_usb000/my-original-cex.EID0.NANDBIN)
* Quit multiMAN and from XMB press+hold {PS} button -> Turn-off the system, then start it again
* Install OFW/CFW 3.55 from XMB
