Ouasse, has released a new homebrew app, which zooms mandelbrot fractals. All of the work is done via the PS3's SPU's via the Cell processor. The homebrew's generator is able to render more than 10 FPS per second, and at certain sections 60 FPS.

I made a fractal zoomer on the mandelbrot set for the jailbroken Playstation 3. All the computations are done using the SPU's of the Cell processor. The generator is able to render more than 10 frames per second, and for some parts of the Mandelbrot set the framerate can achieve 60 fps

It works as an installable package, to be installed from USB storage via the "Install Package" game menu option of jailbroken PS3's.

Use the analog sticks to scroll and zoom, then you can make a screenshot using the "square" button. Screenshot images are stored to USB storage. Use the "start" button to reset the original settings, and hit "cross" to exit. Enjoy !

Ahhh... like a said earlier, its just a glorified screensaver. I bet Geohot is so glad he might go to jail so you guys can drool over this rubbish.

As the app is now, its a show of mathmatics that you apparenly can't appreciate, since you still seem to have a bad condition know as diarrhea of the fingertips. With the ability to move focus as well as zoom automatically, it would become a really cool screen saver for anyone that appreciates the mathmatics behind fractals. Before you comment again, consider what you have contributed to the community and what makes you think you have to right to diminish accomplishments just because the thought behind the app wasn't theft, which you would prefer. People that only care about stealing games for free with no regard for other homebrew make me sick. And geohot won't go to jail over this; he hasn't done anything illegal, has a bunch of good lawyers, and is alot smarter than you. Hell, if he wins and we're lucky, this might be a revolution in the gaming industry. And since Apple lost the jailbreaking war on the iPhone because of fair use, I have high hopes.

Next time I play Black-Ops, I am going to marvel at the maths behind the images and chat to my buddies about it, just in case they don't appreciate it. After all, that's why we bought the thing in the first place as one big screen-saving machine.

Got bless the hackers for allowing us this fractal enjoyment, I am sure all the legal bills and hassle will seem worthwhile now!

He did not do anything that ruined your or anyone's life, plenty of new and cool homebrews will keep coming out and this is just a small addition to the TO-BE huge collection of homebrews thats gonna add up day by day.
