Hermes, famous for his payload work, has released his first custom firmware (CFW) today. Unlike the other CFW's available, Hermes decided to release a CFW based off of 3.41 firmware. The firmware basically allows you to jailbreak your console on 3.41 without the need for a dongle, useful for those not planning to update to 3.55. We must stress this is still a beta release and when flashing a custom firmware there is always a chance of bricking.

WARNING! This modified firware is tested only by two persons (it is experimental!!!) with this models:

CECHC04 (my model, 3 times with different changes, FAT 60GB)
CECHG04 (FAT)
CECHH04 (FAT 40GB)
CECHL04 (FAT 80 gb)
CECH2504B (slim)
CECH2404A (slim)
CECH2004A (slim)
CECH2004B (slim)

I cannot be sure if it can brick others models (don´t use this CFW if you have buy your console with 3.50+, you can brick it!)

I am not responsible if this CFW brick you console: I have taken all possible precautions using SHA1 hash to avoid errors building
the firmware, etc, and other problems (i include too my own patch utility to be sure you apply the patch correctly).

Building the firmware:

Put original PS3UPDAT.PUP (3.41 v2) with patch.bat and run patch.bat. It must create CFW341_PS3UPDAT.PUP.

Put CFW341_PS3UPDAT.PUP as PS3UPDAT.PUP in one pendrive (usb:/PS3/UPDATE/PS3UPDAT.PUP) and try toupdate normally from the device.

If it say "you have this version yet" try the restoration - recovery method (pressing POWER. Ask about this method if you don´t know in the forums)

Features:

- LV1 patch for undocumented v1_undocumented_function_114 (kudos for flukes1/graf_chokolo) 1 byte, don´t worry! XD

- LV2 peek/poke patch (original from psgroove)

- vsh.self patch to enable .self (same patch as psgroove-hermes_v4B. To launch self requires the payload working)

- nas_plugin.sprx patch to enable packages (same patch as psgroove-hermes_v4B. You can install PSL1GHT original packages but requires
geohot make_self_npdrm without one payload working)

- category_game.xml modified to enable packages (kudos for KaKaRoTo)

With this options PS3 works with Homebrew signed (use make_self_npdrm in the EBOOT.BIN).

Working:

Install payloadhv4.pkg and launch it to load the psgroove-hermes_v4B

NOTE: payload code is experimental. I need to work in the application and the payload to add news features.
don't worry about the source code now: this is a beta test version yet, but the source code will soon available.

Be safe and put the official 3.41 on first.

The only way to bypass the FAT32 issue is to put games with files larger than 4gb onto the internal PS3 HDD.

Dongles work by exploiting 3.41 firmware. Sony closed this with 3.42 onwards. Now that the keys are known, there is no point in using a dongle as the PS3 can be made to run ANY code. The day of the Dongle is over. This 3.41cfw is useless and accomplishes nothing but to complicate things. I reckon the author is just trying to be unique by publishing 3.41 cfw.

You can say what you want, If Hermes built the Hermes4B.PKG in an Open Manager or in his new 3.41 CFW ~ Hermes it will be the best choice before a other Developer releases a stable 3.55 CFW with Hermes 4B Payload...

At the moment the 3.55 CFW's just sucks because there freezes and not such a big compatibility like the 3.41 CFW of Hermes with his H4B.PKG....

PLEASE HERMES,
PLEASE: Include the H4b.pkg in a Backupmanager like Open Manager or in your new CFW... If you will do it your 3.41 CFW is the perfect solution !!!!!!

but how do i put them on the ps3 hdd if i do not have a blueray?
becouse i can not put them on externel hdd and then copy them on the ps3 hdd...

First update to original firmware 3.41 then 3.41 Hermes CFW and install payloadhv4.pkg every time you boot up ps3 run the payload all your 3.41 backup manager and homebrew will run just like with a dongle tested 82 games with out disc.

and to wuziwu backup manager do work but not good as open manager

I have an asian model CECH-2512B 320GB Slim, I'm wondering if there's any chance of bricking these models?

I haven't heard of any bricking at all with Hermes CFW, but I'd just like to know if anyone else has tried with a simlar model.

links don´t work

i need urgent help, my dongle doesn´t work, and i try the link´s to get 3.41 hermes cfw, none worked, but i get it from google, only the cfw, one thing that i did was doing was instaling it, without going to recovery mode..what happens, is that the "app" folder does not existes, only the "install pkg" folder, then i install MM cobra, i do not have this dongle, last version, but when i run it, it works fine, but when i run it second time, says that the bdemu is not compatible with software system, so i restart the ps3, and everything is back to normal, or i install again MM, and it get´s back to normal, but when i try a second game, same error.does anyone know wy is this happening? should i install other versio of MM? should i install OFW 3.41 and go to recobery mode and install again the CFW? i do not have the update V4 of the CFW, does anyone have a link to this? or tell me how should i proceed? i have a problem with uncharted 3 to gives me error 80010006...and i can´t install it, does anyone know a fix for this more recent with working links?

i need urgent help please
